I don't recall anybody being excited about the signing. In fact, I'd say the VAST majority were appalled at the price and had him pegged as the 5th defenceman at best but probably the 6th.

Again, the VAST majority seem to be pissed off about it.

I know. Most people were turned off by the price. But that was to suggest that he was OK at some other price, which he wasn't and isn't. He is much worse than Butler, as it turned out. Anyway, that was just an off-topic comment.

An interesting tidbit I just happened across...

I imagine the Flames would have to +++ but Yes Please. (Total 100% speculation on my part.)

don't they need a defender themselves? Miller is on IR again, which is a nightmare for them.

I'm happy that I am probably going to his last home game because I'm happy for what he's done but I want a new chapter with younger guys, if he's leaving, thank you Curtis!

Just passing along what I saw on twitter, and then extrapolated a correlation out of unicorn piss and kitten dreams.

Pulling a squid.
That works, somehow.

No to any plus. Don't think the flames should be in the market for a guy who would be their oldest defender and oldest player

How do you have an accou there for 3 years and not know who Glencross is?

Let's face it, that whole reasoning was just Burke lawyering his way out of a bad situation with some clever post-rationalization. Everyone was waiting for Kessler to be traded to get things moving that day, and Burke ran out of time because he waited too long. He wasn't some grand protector of Flames virtue...he was simply a guy who gambled and lost. It happens sometimes, but I'd appreciate if they just owned up to it. He hit a home run with Bera, and totally blew it with Cammalleri.
There's nothing that says that because you traded a guy for a certain price in one situation, you absolutely must adhere to the same standards the next time. If you don't like what a team offers you, all you have to do is say no and move on.

Burke admitted that he lowered the price on Cammy but there wasn't enough time.
People forget that the flames really wanted to retain Cammy last year. Burkes gamble was he thought he could sign Cammy and opted not to take the 4th round pick that so many posters get bent out of shape that he didn't take.

Burke got a 3rd for Stempniak. I doubt teams would be prepared to give up more for Stempniak than for Cammy.

So with the report that the Ducks were originally the only team that was on the list, what happened there? Ducks not interested in Glencross or were they low balling the Flames?

Flames may be hesitant to pull the trigger on a trade to a division rival? Might have been a pick coming back? Double negative as the Flames would upgrade ANA while the Flames stay the same?
Maybe Treliving has been seeking more of a hockey deal with other parts and no one is chomping at that bit like he said today.

Combination of Ducks giving an early low offer and Calgary being less than inclined towards giving him to a team they may face in the 1st round (and I think play again down the stretch) for less than a their asking price.
Now that Friedman is reporting Glencross is open to destinations besides Anaheim, you have to think that behoves Anaheim to increase their offer.
Another thing probably holding things up is that Anaheim is looking to unload a couple of players as well. Calgary probably isn't interested in a UFA for UFA deal and is probably looking at one of their close prospects.
Anaheim may have to do a deal first before they can accommodate Glencross. Bob Murray has mentioned Glencross before with admiration, so I think there is probably some serious desire from their side. I think Anaheim is where he eventually ends up.

Perhaps, but none of that is really Glencross' concern from his perspective. He was at one point set on only going to the Ducks.
IMO only reason to expand his list is that a) Anaheim doesn't really want him b) Flames asked him to so they could try and create a bidding war in an attempt to increase Anaheim's offer
I suppose you could make a case that Treliving told him to expand his list or he would finish the season as a Flame, but who would want a malcontent on the team.
