See that is the problem. There are too many weapons, both legal and illegal in circulation.

Agreed/disagree too many dumb asses that leave weapons unlocked and easy to steal.

Perhaps it too many "dumb asses" are in possession of weapons, then the ability for said "dumb asses" to get those weapons need to be adressed?

Perhaps........

To be fair, the argument you just made is: "It's better than Mexico, so it's good enough"

Throwing stones from a glass house? I feel quite comfortable throwing stones from a country that has 500 murders a year.

I'm pretty sure Detroit has more than that all by itself.

Edit: Before they went bankrupt and half the people left it. God Bless America.

That actually fits the current world geopolitical activities better considering all the interventions they have been instigated on foreign soil.

If men and women in society cannot defend themselves, these situations will happen wherever the weakest link is, and that currently is gun free zones.

Maybe in the future at some point we will have all bought into the non-aggression principle and it will no longer be an issue, but until then self defense is a basic instinct.
So you really think that arming people to the teeth is going to create fewer gun deaths? Honestly? Because just what I want in an already dangerous situation is an overly aggressive moron with a hero complex, who likely has little to no training in how to fire a weapon, trying his hand at vigilante justice.

If this country is going to continue to be so damn obsessed with "defending themselves," then we need to ensure that those carrying weapons are properly trained in how to use them, as well as stable enough to know when to use them.

It should be just as difficult for someone to own a weapon as it is to own and drive a vehicle. Education, registration, background check, etc, etc. If you can get through all of that, pass a training course and a mental health examination, I have no issue with you owning a weapon.

What a terrible analogy. It is better than the States and by a mile but what are some things that I would want fixed in this country? The only thing is probably the leniency of the justice system. I bet your list of things you want changed (if you live in America and I'm assuming by your terrible analogy you do) is way bigger than mine or any other Canadian if you are being honest with yourself.

The weapons Adam Lanza used were not his. They were his mothers who he murdered, then stole, then murdered children.

Why do you hate the states so much? If you hate it so much don't watch our movies, sport teams and listen to our music.

Very weird case all around, Lopez was receiving treatment for depression from the sounds of it, but he wasn't considered violent or dangerous. He served in Iraq, but seemingly came back normal, however he did claim to be brain injured.

So we have a non violent guy, who was receiving treatment and taking his anti-depression medicine, he had bought a legal fire arm with lots of ammunition.

To me this still goes back to screening who can have a gun and who can't. I'm convinced that if your under psychiatric care then your doctor should have to sign off on you purchasing a weapon since that could send alarm bells ringing in the doctors head.

Very weird case all around.

CaptainCrunch, and UnderCoverBrother, you guys served (thank you) I have a question for you both.

Seems like stories of veterans suffering from PTSD is on the rise on the late. Im not sure if that's just because you hear more about it in the media or what, but I do remember reading that before troops were pulled out of Iraq/Afganistan, that many of them were deployed for more tours than what would be considered typical. Typical (to my understanding) being two or so trips into war zones.

Just curious if you both agree/disagree that soldiers are overworked? PTSD seems to be a much too common story now-a-days.
