Tage Thompson is an example of why I want to target Krebs and Sillinger. Likely turns out more like Grigorenko but getting some prospects that have shown growth instead of late picks is my preference
The Horvat deal is a blueprint for what the Flames should get for Lindholm
Traded from Vancouver Canucks to New York Islanders for Aatu Raty, Anthony Beauvillier and round 1 pick in the 2023 draft (Axel Sandin-Pellika)
What we are talking about here from the Bruins is almost identical.
Lysell>Raty
DeBrusk=Beauvillier
Obviously where the pick lands is the variable, but the Bs could be taking a step back without Bergeron and Krejci. And other key guys one year older.
Why do we think the Flames would get more than that?
Beauvillier comes with term where Debrusk is either flipped or the Flames decide to lock him up to a 6x6 type deal if he would re-sign. The pick could be 25 or 26 which is vastly different than an upcoming 1st in the next draft that helps the org sooner.
IMO, Sillinger is being underrated- although there's no logical explanation of why last season went so bad for him, other than maybe an undisclosed injury. He was perhaps rushed into the NHL a little fast too, as he just turned 20 in May.
The good part is that he's a 6'2"C with good two-way instincts, and a little bit of jam. His 16 year-old season in the WHL was, at the time, the best season for a kid that old in the previous 30 years in terms of ppg. The following year, which was culminated with his being drafted, he was 4th in the USHL in ppg playing for Sioux Falls- the second-worst team in the league. The knock on Sillinger was his skating, and he has cleaned that up considerably. IIRC, Sillinger was one of the fittest players at the combine. He's got character.
I think Sillinger might be a bottom-6 player for the next few years while he develops, but I see him as a second-line C at the very least in the future.

just saw something on Twitter (as I'm sure others did) about the Flames and Preds discussing Hanifin...grain of salt required.
I brought this up the other day, but there wasn't too much of a discussion. I mentioned that I would trade Cody Glass straight across for Hanifin, but that Nashville wouldn't do it.

Cody Glass is 24 and has a career high 35pts and the Preds wouldn’t trade him for Hanifin? You would want that trade? What am I missing about Glass? Seems like a bust to me.

He's had a rough go, but he's starting to turn a corner- those 35 points came in 72 games last year. There's been a lot of injury trouble in his young career. He's a former 6th overall pick, and he has all the skills to take the next step.
If you want a good read/story you should read up on Glasses tenure in LV and how he was left twisting in the wind ( likely rushed to the nhl, knee injuries, covid hit during rehab so no family or travel)and then Nashville brought him in and they literally worked with him to tear his game down and build it back up again. His progression in the AHL was rock solid, and then he made the big club.
It's a good story and timeline that answers the productions concerns. I'm a firm believer that Glass is going to be a force for the rest of his career simply because Nashville did what they did with him .
He will be a late bloomer but a purpose built late bloomer.
In all honesty I'm not even sure Nashville would move Glass for Hanifin because of how much they've invested in him.

Who can forget that famous behind the scenes video where he can't get through the meeting without crying after being told he's made the team.

If we are trading with Columbus I prefer Marchenko to be honest. Even if that means they aren't adding a high pick.
Kid has an absolute laser of a shot and has 40 goal potential.
You snag him then move your focus to acquiring a centre in the Hanifin deal. Whether it's Bourque, Glass, Lundell, or Bolduc (didn't play centre last year but has in the past).
Unless I am mistaken wasn't Honzek also considering switching to centre this upcoming season?
