How in the hell are people supposed to shift the paradigm if they merely "talk" rather than conversate?

... but it would only sound that way to ignorant idiots that don't know that "conversate" is a real word.
The real cause of the problem is two-fold: people using words that aren't suitable for their audience, and people with poor vocabularies in those audiences.

As far as what's simpler, yeah, one of the things we try to focus on is not being too bloody wordy, and instead make our use of language more accessible to a wider range of people. When your goal is to get a message across to as many people as possible and have them understand it, simple language is generally better. Even in our technical documentation, we have validation tests that run against our PRs before merging to make sure that the language we use isn't too formal (eg: preferring contractions versus the full phrase [wasn't vs was not]).

That sounds like a great way to drill down on the KPIs when you means-test your project for value-add before going to market.

How would you convey the fact that you have a useless MBA in that way though?

I can’t stand how often people say utilize instead of use.

Work related gear grinder.
I hate when I request a quote from a supplier and they assume it means they're getting the order.
for it happening this time, I was as nice as possible with both companies letting them know that they didn't get it, but they're still a bit salty about it.

Utilize at least has the additional implication that the tool or skill you're using has utility and is useful.
But yes, in layman speak, use makes more sense.
But the "real word" thing is dumb. Masticate is a word, but you're a ####tard if you use it over chew. The one that I hated forever that finance guys used to tout was "fungible" instead of tangible. Those ####ers won with the concept of NFTs though.

"your on mute"
it's been what, 3 years now?
There's a button with a mic. If there is a slash through it, nobody can hear you.

You know what would improve people's poor vocabularies? Putting dictionaries on the blockchain.

Eh - I usually don't mind this. I'd much rather someone be on mute and forget to turn their mic on than be that guy with the constant background noise who never mutes.

Those words mean two completely different things.
A synonym for fungible is substitutable.
A synonym for tangible is physical.

Well damn. I never actually looked up the definition of fungible. The guys I kept running into and hearing it from were trying to use it to replace a word like tangible rather than the ability to substitute it with an identical item. Perhaps a better layman word is interchangeable? Or is that still too far from substitutable?
My bad.

Oil is fungible.
Electricity is fungible.
Money is fungible.
Natural gas is not.
