The Markstrom NMC is an issue especially since that's the primary reason he signed. Of course, the loss of Gaudreau and (in that case) Tkachuk might convince him otherwise.
You still have to find a team that he likes, and that can afford him.

Yep, some fans really underrate Tkachuk. I was saying even before Johnny left, given age and performance to date, if I had to choose between the two, I would pick Tkachuk every time. Now that it isn't a choice, I would throw the bank at him.

This isn’t rocket science.
We all know how good he is. We just had a good player walk, if they are going to trade him it’s because he’s also going to walk. That’s it, that’s the story. The Flames don’t “want” to trade him.

The Rangers, assuming they sign Kakko for about 2 million a year, will have about 17 million next offseason to sign
Miller (RFA)
Chytil (RFA)
Lafrenniere (RFA)
And 9 other players.
I would be offering one of those players a 7 year contract they can’t say no to.

Lost the arena deal, losing the local sports radio station. If I didn't know any better I'd say it looks like the prelude to a relocation (but obviously it's not, it's just a bizarre coincidence of a bunch of negative circumstances happening at the same time)

We know that Treliving seems to play hard ball with our RFAs, squeezing value out of those contracts in order to overpay veteran UFAs. Has this tactic finally bitten him in the ass? Are the likes of Tkachuk and Gaudreau a bit jaded because of previous contract negotiations with this management team? If that's the case, does anyone blame them for feeling that way?

Perhaps this has mentioned, I haven't gone through the entire thread. Maybe Barzal wants to be closer but not home also? He's from Coquitlam, right shot center, at just 25. He's skilled, and speedy and would soften the blow losing Gaudreau/Tkachuk. His making $7M this year, and an RFA next year. Canadian/American swap + some other pieces

I really don't think so. In a couple of years the cap won't be so flat anymore and honestly Chucky is about a lot more than just points. He may not hit 100 consistently again but he'll put up great #'s with Lindy still and have all the intangibles we need.
I would throw 12 at him or very close to.
