Does Perry wear a letter?
I haven't watched every Coiler game this year, but it seems to me that he stands out as the only guy even trying to show some leadership. Now, I'm not saying that he is succeeding, but he does seem to be the only one trying.
What a brutal decision to make, and then stick with, annointing an 80-100 ft. player as your captain. And what was it, at 20 years old?
That entire organization is just so, so easy to hate. I have to question a lot of things about anyone that steadfastly supports them. I maybe get the casual fan that really doesn't pay attention to all the details and just cheers for them because they're the hometown team. But for any hardcore fan that sees, as much as a fan can, what goes on in that organization and still supports them? That's crazy.

It looks like the Edmonton Oilers made a costly mistake in a deal at the 2023 Trade Deadline.
Heading into the playoffs that year, General Manager Ken Holland traded to acquire centreman Nick Bjugstad from the Arizona Coyotes. The Oilers sent back a third round draft pick, and defenceman prospect Michael Kesselring.
Kesselring was a 6th round draft pick of the Oilers in 2018, and many fans may have written him off as a career minor leaguer. However, Kesselring took a major step forward last year with 65 games played on the Coyotes, and this season he's playing top pairing minutes on the Utah Hockey Club with Mikhail Sergachev.

I believe it was a 'masterclass' of GMing
Followed by: - moving out Ceci to make cap room
- then not matching anyway
- then signing Brown, and giving him a 3-yr contract, so they could send him to the AHL with impunity
- then acquiring Emberson and his 30 games of NHL experience, as the solution for Nurse
####ing masterclass!

19yo, I believe. Youngest ever so that means he is the best captain!

We've heard this story a few times.
Puliujarvi has 5 points in 6 games.
Broberg has 6 points in 6 games and is a +6.
Holloway has 2 points in 6 games and is taking a regular shift.

So, is it too early to talk about McDavid asking for a trade?

EXTREMELY EARLY paces, I understand, but funny none the less...
-McLeod on pace for 35 goals. Previous high was 12.
-Kesselring on pace for 55 points, playing 20min/game. Never played a shift in Edmonton.
-Broberg on pace for 82 points, playing 20min/game. Previous high was a 14 point pace.
-Holloway on pace for 28 points. Previous high was a 19 point pace.
All are 25yo or younger. Two are top-4 dmen.

Losing Broberg and Holloway is on management but also IMO on the Wonder Twins. If they took a page from the Crosby playbook of actually winning, they would be taking $10-11M deals instead of pushing for max salary so they could build an actual team around them.
2 guys take up 1/3 the cap and they wonder why everyone around them sucks.

And their best buddies get paid the handsomest compared to market value despite being some of the worst players on the team.
I laughed when it came down the grapevine that McDavid was mad about the offer sheets. Bro, without that stupid Connor Brown contract and bonus, matching would've been easy to do, and you'd still have Ceci and not some no namer in over his head in your top 6 lol.

Kesselring and Broberg are defensemen. It's entirely possible the oilers may not be aware these guys even exist.
