That sort of proves my point. The season hasn’t been that great you’ve just come to expect bad things all the time
You can data mine for positives and definitely find a bunch but big picture this doesn’t look like a cup winning team unless multiple good forwards are brought in
One thing that works in Brad’s favor this year is that the sellers in the East are basically decided earlier than normal

I think the Canadian teams are going to have a hard time acquiring players with NMC/NTC.
Don’t know where this rumour is originating from but I’m skeptical.

You have to basically go into any Giroux trade knowing it's a trade deadline to end of season acquisition only. We're can't afford to re-signing him, and I doubt he'd want to sign here anyway.

Is Giroux going to score a boatload of goals? Cause that's what we need.
Another playmaker is redundant on this top six.

Expectations should be relative to reality. I wanted this team to make big changes. I hated this offseason and thought it was the worst. This team obviously is better than they showed last year and my opinion of Gaudreau has improved fairly significantly this season. I feel a lot better about the blueline with Andersson’s step forward, Hanifin playing solid and Kylington starting to breakout all of these guys are 25. I am happy with the goaltending and it gives me hope this team could make some noise come playoff time.
Who knows maybe in 3 more weeks this team continues to slide and are outside looking in but they have played a style and a way this year that gives me hope that this season will be different.

Seeing what good coaching can do has given us more options. If we can upgrade the quality of the players from what we have now and find ways to get more skill into the lineup, It's a start. The team is good enough against most of the league but we seem to struggle when we are faced against a team with more experience and skill.
I can't see the Flames letting 2 players on our top line go, my guess is they will try and build around them. Getting an elite player is a tall task but we may be able to continue to bridge the gap by adding some higher quality + skilled top 6, 9 players. Hopefully, Flames are talking now about the best way to get it done.

The price is no different than the Hertl and pavilski proposals .

I agree and I am not a fan of paying that price. I was ready to move the first for Eichel. I would do it for a long term piece like Chychrun but not a guy who walks in the summer.

The good news is Treliving has never offered up a 1st for a rental. Whenever he has dealt a 1st it has been for a controllable asset.

All players are rentals. I’d rather give up good picks in a year where you have a good chance at a playoff run than giving up good picks for average players with term but you’re never good enough to play in the post season. Look at all those playoff games we got out of Hamonic and Lazar.

Flames have 2 seconds this year. Trade the 1st, get yourself some top 6 talent that can make the PP more dangerous. Giroux would be a deadly add. I was hoping for Forsberg but didn't foresee the Preds leading the Central Division. Oh well, what are you going to do?

I will believe it when I see it, I think Giroux stays in Philly the rest of his career.

Not a rumor or anything, just asking a question, what happened to Tyler Seguin, have injuries turned him into Sean Monohan?

For years he's been more than rumored to be partying hard with Benn, and if true I'm sure that hasn't helped, but he's been injured quite a lot. I think his best days are behind him despite him being young.

Another guy being brought up in rumors is Jack Roslovic. Every time I read the box score, it seems like he's only getting 10-12 minutes a game-this after a bit of a breakthrough season last year under Torts (34 pts in 48 games). He's a right-shooting C, decent size (6'1"), skates well, and can score. He's still young (24), so he's still got plenty of room to grow-and as I always say, Sutter can straighten him out.
Despite seemingly not getting the best ice time (12:22 AVG), he's still put up 14 pts in 32 games.

I don't think I'd call Seguin young at this point. He'll be 30 in a couple weeks. Best days are definitely behind him. A pile of lower body injuries to this point. Achilles injury, hip surgery, knee injuries... Kinda does sound like Monahan.

Why don't you just PVR the entire season and wait until the Stanley Cup is awarded before watching any games? Then you can always know you're cheering for the winner.
Sometimes the entitlement of sports fans is beyond belief.

Then the term ‘rental’ has no meaning.
I prefer to use it in the way it's always been understood in this context: a rental is a trade to acquire a player who is UFA at the end of the season.
