I was waiting for Steve to say that they have a 97% renewal rate, they have the most 20 goal scorers and if they were headquartered out in the east, this wouldn't be an issue.

Apple and the Flames use the same back pedaling template I see.

I rarely read any Apple threads because of the silly fighting. It was nice to read a few pages of very useful information. But now you are just trying to start something. Please don't whine later about Fanin80 after you just called him out.

Really makes you wonder that if the whole thing is overblown, why give away free cases to fix a problem that has been overstated so much?

Let the data speak for itself. If .05% of iPhone 4 owners are complaining, that isn't a big deal at all.

Seems to me it's trying to quell the hysteria, but really.. not the best plan IMO.

Not to say that this technical issue isn't way overblown, but are people really going to call applecare for an issue that is so well known that it is the butt of late night jokes?

He did say that the iPhone 4 drops 1 additional call per 100 calls compared to the 3GS. So it's one percent worse at holding onto calls than the 3GS. It's bad that it got worse with a new design, but overall it's not that big of a deal.

Don't know how you get 1%. Sounds like the old phone dropped somewhere around 4.5 calls per 100. If the new one went up 1 per 100, that would be almost 25% increase in dropped calls.

So now that the iPhone is coming to Canada at the end of the month I would assume that Rogers/Bell/Telus/Fido will be announcing pre-orders soon? Will they even do them?

Where did you get the # that the 3GS dropped 4.5 calls per 100?

Oh lol, yeah that's a bit different. I don't know if there's public information anywhere with respect to actual #'s of dropped calls.. Would be VERY interesting info to see.

http://news.cnet.com/ATT-Wireless-ow..._3-947069.html

sounds like 1%-2% is the ballpark.

Using that number, plus Steve J's, you'd get a 50-100% increase in dropped calls vs old iphone.

I guess it depends. For example if I owned an iPhone 4 I wouldn't have called Apple as I was aware of the issues due to the media coverage.

And what are they determining as being a "call?" Is it an actual phone call, or is an email also considered a call? I know common sense says all contacts are calls; but I have seen tech stats skewed to reflect actual telephone calls.

(Which would make this stat even more useless; as how many people attempted to call but were unable to due to issues with their phone?)
