If he used a derogatory term, once, ten years ago... I guess he should be fired? I will point out that the name of Christ that we Christian people take upon ourselves and want to honor, is spewed out like a derogatory cuss word across the NHL constantly. I've never called for anyone to be fired.
Well I said last night that I didn't like Aliu's character and didn't trust his accusation alone, but now that it's been confirmed by others none of that matters in the slightest.
Goodbye Mr. Peters. I'm glad to see what needed to be done is already done

Is this what we're doing now then?

I suppose if no one said anything to management, it would be hard for them to do anything. The two teammates who have spoken up haven't said they took it further, and I don't know if Dowling did either. And it would have been hard for them - they were in the AHL, looking to move up or keep a job. That said, Stan Bowman is still there and maybe sweating some.
I agree with the poster above who says they aren't investigating, they are exiting.
Yeah, reading from Steinberg it sounds like this never made a followup
Which makes the latter part of his Tweet more confusing:
"First one to admit I rebelled against him. Wouldn’t you? And instead of remedying the situation, he wrote a letter to John McDonough and Stan Bowman to have me sent down to the ECHL."
vs
"Aliu said he did not confront Peters at the time of the incident, nor in the private meeting that followed in Peters' office."
...so I guess the latter part of the 3 Tweets was just hot air?
But this sits with Peters then, as this would have been pretty far-reaching I'd think if the team knew about this and turfed it. It would have been a terrible day to have Stan dragged through this too.
Split98, rebel doesn't necessarily meant he confronted the incident though. He could have just began to fight fire-with-fire on Peters and began to 'pushback' for lack of better word.

This is definitely the darkest timeline.
I think it's unclear what Aliu meant by rebelling against Peters. I think it likely that it means he was generally disrespectful and at odds with Peters going forward. And I think the "letter" probably was Peters saying to management " this kid has a bad attitude and I want him sent down".
It's really too bad if it went nowhere else, and it's evidence as to why movements like #metoo are valuable. Look at the dominoes that fall if the right thing is done. Aliu doesn't get sent down, has a better minor career, maybe a better NHL career. Peters either doesn't work again and Calgary doesn't get saddled with this, or he is reprimanded at the time, learns something, and becomes a better person and coach and things work out better in the long run.

I have no intention to defend Peters as there's no place for racism in any locker room. But imagine that he had to deal with lyrics such as this one on a daily basis:
""Man, if we was up north, nig##s would have been ####ed you/But then we in the streets, #####s should haven been stuck you/Plucked you like a chicken wit' your head cut off/They'll find you wit' your back open and your legs cut off/And as for your man, don't you ever in your motha####in' life/Know when I gotta gun come at me wit' a knife, a'ight?/And forgetting you ever saw me is the best thing to do/Don't give a #### about your family, they'll be resting with you"
Song: X Is coming,DMX
I'm ok with coach throwing N bomb being fired. But lets apply the same rules to "music" that support violence and killing of innocent people. Is it Ok to broadcast this type of s**t yet punish people when they drop a single N bomb?

You can't possibly be so obtuse so as to not recognize the incredible differences between these two things?
