And for one magical night, the Oilers were the prettiest girl at the ball.

What a whacked out OOT that was. Blood pressure is all over the scale, wow. A debacle by the Kings, the Jets and Pavelec do an exorcism in St. Louis due to their previous visit there. The Senators are riding lady luck with the miracle 4-3 OT comeback. The Wild and Dubnyk still have something with that voodoo magic. The Wild can still catch the Bhawks. Bizarre to say the least. Lesser games had the Avs beating the Predators 3-2 in reg time. The top 3 Central teams lose and that helps the Ducks in the conference standings. Halak must be in isolation after the Flyers score a softie to win. The Rangers win the Pres trophy, get ready to hear about 1994. Detroit is lucky they got past the Hurricanes, 3-2 in reg time.

Sutter is the new Pete Carrol. 1 yard line, extremely tight playoff race, and instead of the sure thing run (Quick), he goes and starts Jones.

Can't say I understand the choice, but boy, I sure do like the results.

Can you imagine if before the game someone said:

The Oilers start their backup goalie.
The Kings will score a goal from the center line.
The Kings will see Minnesota, Winnipeg and Calgary win on the OOT board.

And the Oilers will win the hockey game! whoo da thunk!

I watched the ending of that game with baited breath and a bottle of Jack in my hand. The Oilers were up 3-1 and I saw that goal from the Redline and muttered "Here we go, typical lousy Oilers" and took a shot.

Then I watched as Hall made a lazy forecheck and started coasting back and the Kings coming up the ice and I figured "Stupid Lazy Hall" and took a shot. And the Kings shot wide.

Then I saw Maricin make a god awful poke check attempt and then turn lazily to watch a King make a backhand move in front of bachman or whatever his name is and shoot it wide, and you guessed it, I took another drink.

Fact is after that the game was kind of blurry but I know that the hockey gods had given us the only break that we're going to get.

Hey they actually helped the Flames AND the Canucks - Vancouver clinched thanks to that LA loss.

Yeah that was a pretty critical mistake by Sutter. I get he wants to rest Quick for Calgary, but you can't look past teams regardless how bad they are.

Can I just state how much I hate the Blues? Those clowns deserve to either be swept in the first round, or blow a 3-0 lead.

In hindsight, Quick probably would have been the better choice. But the Kings didn't lose because of Jones.

The Kings scored a single goal against Vancouver, and then a single goal against the lowly Oilers (ok fine 2 goals against the Coilers, but one was from center ice that a cardboard cutout would have stopped).

The Kings lost and are on the verge of not making the playoffs because they can't seem to score right now, not because they started Jones.

I'm hoping, praying and expecting that to happen. I know they've been a favourite to win the cup the last couple seasons, but they have choke written all over them. Now that SJ's window has closed, they are the new Sharks. Built for regular season success, the wheels fall off come playoff time. Seriously, screw them for bringing their 'A' game against us and losing out to other teams we are directly competing against for a playoff spot. I never had anything against them, but this season they RGMG.

Have to give credit to Winnipeg. They have been playing extremely well and if I were near the top of the conference, I'd be worried about playing them as they are built for the playoffs.

Quick looked extremely tired against Vancouver. You're playing the Oilers. Easy choice to set the backup in a back to back game. Hindsight says that Sutter should have cloned Doughty's heart because he was the only player who fought with playoff intensity.

This is an absurd statement. If anyone's built for the playoffs, it's the Blues. That is a physical team.

Since they've been any good (2012?) they've lost to the eventual champion Kings, the Kings again, and the Blackhawks. Three straight years they draw one of the two best teams in the league in rd1. Those last two series have been extremely hard-fought. They've essentially just had terrible luck with matchups.
