With the big teams (Chelsea, Man U and ####ty) having bad starts Tottenham sure chose a bad time to have some crap results.
Another game where they toss away points down the drain. Lucky for them it is so tight at the top and the top 3 are so weak but they had a great opportunity to put some space between them and the contenders and instead in typical fashion came out with blah results against Newcastle, Everton and WHU. 1 point out of what should have been an easy 9 is pathetic.

Backs to the wall stuff here for Manchester United...I can't see them keeping a clean sheet, Arsenal are playing them off the pitch here at the 55 minute mark.

Absolutely no presence in the middle of the area, I could see the current scoreline being the final score.
That being said, I'm watching the game on mute now because these two clowns are unbearable.

Man U-Arsenal result will make this season even more interesting. I am surprised they took all 3 points but good on David Moyes, he was due for a good result. Van Persie scoring the winner makes me grit my teeth a little though, whether it was Gotze this summer or Van Persie last year I think you're spitting in the face of the people who've paid for your excessive salary when you move to their rivals. And then if you score against them, at least show some class and hold back on the sliding celebration and then the jumping fist pump.

he didn't celebrate at all when he scored vs Arsenal last season though. At some point, you have to let it go ...
brilliant and much-needed result today. This weekend could have been ugly for United, but thanks to this win plus City, Chelsea and Spurs all giving away points, this has been a perfect weekend for United.

Meh for me I don't think there's some kind of statute of limitations, if Iginla or Reggie ever do pumpernickels after scoring a goal against the Flames I think that would be dbaggish. Anyway totally entitled to your opinion on it.

Absolutely delighted. I really didn't expect that win.
Credit where credit is due to Moyes for Jones at DM. That performance in the first half was probably imo his best ever half in an United shirt. Did well in defence too.

Exactly, I don't see that as disrespectful at all, just a fired up player in a huge game.
Always after these games I get an urge to check out Piers and whatdya know. ...
Quote:
he Premier League clash between Manchester United and Arsenal today has resulted in an unlikely showbiz spat – between Manchester music star Tim Burgess and Gunners fan Piers Morgan.Charlatans frontman Tim started the row, when he tweeted to his followers: “Anyone know the odds for @PiersMorgan tweeting “Wenger out” within three minutes if United score first tomorrow? Might stick a quid on,” in reference to Morgan's high profile rants earlier this year against the Arsenal boss.
The former Daily Mirror editor and talk show host was swift to respond, with the blunt: “Get a haircut” back to the indie icon.
Mop-topped Burgess didn't like that, tweeting: “Wow! I'm getting styling tips from a chubby David Cameron lookalike. Thanks, but no thanks.”
Broadcaster Piers swiped back: “Says Boris Johnson's ugly little sister”.
In an apparent bid to end the row (well, sort of) Tim signed off: “C'mon Piers, people don't want to see us bickering on here. Tell you what, I'll leave a message on someone else's voicemail for you.”

See how CR7 acts when he scores against Manchester United? I have a feeling Man U fans would be saying the same things Arsenal fans are.
It's called respect for the club that stuck by you when you did absolutely nothing for 4 years.

yes. The same way van Persie acted when he scored in both games vs Arsenal last year.

If I were an Arsenal fan, today's celebration would probably piss me off a bit as well, but it's been one and a half years now and it was a huge goal for both him and the club ... a lot of pressure. That goal was a huge relief and after not celebrating at all in the first two games vs Arsenal, today he celebrated like would have against every other top club. Cut him some slack, he has always acted and spoken respectfully about Arsenal and it's not like he pulled an Adebayor or something.

You mean other than when he demanded a transfer to only one team and that team happens to be one of our rivals? If he said "I want out" we could have gotten full value from a team like Real or Barca. Instead we had to take half of his actual value and now get to face him at least twice a year. But sure, he should be respected.

The reaction of Van Persie was fine but not surprised to see Arsenal fans getting their panties in a bunch over it.
It was funny seeing Piers acting like it was a given Arsenal would win pre-game and then acting as though it was no big deal they lost and that Arsenal being 'top of the table' 1/3 of the way into the season was a bigger deal then a game against United.

I've not been one to go all mental after a player moves on. But given the length of time he was with the Club (much of it on a treatment table) and the fact he was our Captain,he just showed himself up to being a dbag.
Congratulations on his exquisitely shouldered in goal.

Slack will not be cut because his goals hurt us deeply but because he's gone against his word, again. Last year he said that out of respect he wouldn't celebrate against us, I guess he didn't respect us that much.
I admire it when players show a bit of respect and don't celebrate against former clubs that mean a great deal to them. However, I do strongly dislike the fake respect. What he did this year puts into question the sincerity of his actions, or lack thereof, from last year.
The less about the twat the better though. I'm disappointed with the result, I thought a point would have been the worse case scenario. At the end of the day, though, the other contenders dropped points, we weren't massively out-played, took 6 points out of 9 from a tough part of our schedule, and we're still top of the league. Onward!

it's pretty funny, especially since we're on a hockey forum. Hockey players change clubs all the time and celebrate against their former clubs, we've all supported former Oilers and Canucks playing for the Flames and will do again now that Smid will wear the Flaming C. There always seems to be more drama with that stuff in football ... don't really know why. RvP has always been dramatically more professional than ####heads like Adebayor, Tevez, Nasri, Cole etc ... oh well. There were probably only two options today -
United lose - all the Arsenal and Liverpool fans gather to mock us
United win - all the Arsenal fans pile on RvP to distract from the loss
I'll happily settle for option number two.

Ya......right.

Except RVP didn't go all Yakupov he celebrated like many other players celebrate every week.
And no I would not have a problem if Iginla scored a big goal in a rivalry game and celebrated the goal. I may be mad at management for putting him in the position that he was no longer on the team (as Arsenal fans should be mad at their cheap owners).

I get it. But given how much was on the line for United today, it kind of amuses me that an everyday goal celebration is the only thing to discuss here. If that's the only thing that matters after a game like that, then so be it.
