It won't even have to be Hamas 2.0. It looks like Hamas 1.0 is going to survive this after-all. Their leaders are still alive. Their military capabilities are probably diminished, but they're still launching rockets at Israel. The tunnel system is still intact. They've gained experience, learned from their mistakes and only strengthened their alliances with Iran, Hezbollah, Turkey and Russia over the last 7 months.

I've said this numerous times and I'll say it again, the best way to defeat Hamas is to give the Palestinians a better option.

It’s an awful situation that Israel and Gaza civilians have been put in by Hamas.

I understand what you are saying and don’t necessarily disagree, but i think that the first step to peace is the region is the complete removal of Hamas. I am hopeful (although not totally optimistic considering the history of the Gaza Strip) that the Palestinians and Israel can find long lasting peace when this is over. I don’t think there is any chance of peace while Hamas is controlling Gaza.

I never said Hamas and Palestinians are the same. I would hope it’s the exact opposite, that Palestinians that have lost family and lost their homes would not be supportive of Hamas. But I am sure there are people on both sides in Gaza.

I agree that it would be hard to want to make peace after what has happened, but hopefully time heals some of these wounds.

If the other posters are like me, I imagine they put in zero seconds per year thinking negative thoughts toward Jewish people. I think about your religion as much as you think about Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Sikhism, Hellenistic Paganism, etc. Judaism is a big deal to you, but the rest of us aren't cruising around scheming against you or even thinking about your beliefs one way or another.

You're in a bubble, dude. You have inflated the role of Judaism in the everyday lives and efforts of non-Jews to such an extreme extent to be absolutely comical.

Is there anti-Semitism in the world? Of course. Islamophobia? Yes. Ever been on r/Christianity? Many of those guys - in their minds - are the victims of non-stop persecution for their beliefs. As an areligious person, I believe all religions are totally ridiculous, but I honestly don't spend my time wishing harm or distress upon religious people. It's straight-up stupid and portraying yourself is a victim when you're not (in here). I just want Israel, the country (remember, IDGAF about the dominant religion of the people there...I'm talking about a political apparatus operating a military force), to stop killing its neighbours. I also want Hamas to stop killing Israelis, but right now (as in the literal today) the problem is Israeli aggression.

BTW, I travelled to Poland to see Auschwitz. When I went, most people were going to party destinations for their little find-yourself adventures, but I did Poland, Germany and a couple other countries with a view to seeing the WWII locations myself. Auschwitz - if you've never been - is one fkd up, sad, sobering and horrific place. Rooms filled with people's eyeglasses. Suitcase rooms. They made mattresses out of shaved human hair. It's just fricken awful. I get what the Jewish people went through and understand the reason they required a safe haven, but let's focus on 2024 for one second and you can easily remove religion from the equation. I just want Israel - the country - to stop killing people in Gaza. It's no more complicated than that.
