Average folks driving aside; the transport industry is one of the largest industries on earth.
Autonomous transport trucks that can drive 24/7 (aside from restocking/charging) and don't need a paid driver who has to stop and sleep is a no brainer application if/when this technology advances enough.
Driverless Ubers where you can send your own Tesla out and make money from it while you sit at home/work is also an application people will be all over.
As much as I can't stand Elon, I'm not writing off that Tesla could be a kingpin in these spaces. Might actually be a good time to buy into the company while his antics overshadow these applications which are coming.

Naw, this is never going to be a thing for anything other than people running it as a business. And then they'll quickly find out that Tesla takes so much of a cut it won't be worth it. You want to risk your car ending up taking home a bunch of drunks? The daily cleaning and charging? Ordinary people are not going to do this.
Tesla are way behind autonomous semis, which some companies are already running. Tesla announced a semi over half a decade ago, and no one but Pepsi can even buy them. And Autonomous? No, not even close.
They have the same number of miles driven in a regulated environment(public roads) without a safety monitor as the did a decade ago. Zero. Meanwhile, Waymo is all over the place doing what Tesla has convinced rubes they'd be doing five years ago. Other companies are also ahead.
They have no solution to the disastrous decision of going end to end AI on low end hardware, and have the same autonomous problems they had five years ago that this was supposed to solve.
And the robots? Ya, that's the next grift. Millions in 2026! They can't even make the hand work.
Go ahead and gamble on their shares if you want, which are already trading so far out of the logical stratosphere, you'd need a Starship to get close. Why? Well, people insist it's the future value of Tesla. But if that justifies the share price, it is already factored in, and then some.
Most importantly, you fund a Nazi racist bigot who lies about being good at video games, and there is no getting around that.
