I'll be surprised if this doesn't get done within the next week.

We get it.
You don't enjoy, or are skeptical of people posting what they claim to be inside information.
Please stop ruining it for everyone else who clearly does.

You seem to think 'taking calls on' and 'shopping' are the same thing, I think most people would disagree with you.

A few games don’t cut it. It’s the long game to shore up a position with a proven commodity.

For the Devils, Markstrom would be huge. Turn that team around for sure.

Yeah, I really hope we can still get this deal done. It would be huge for the franchise.

Seems odd that the retention number would be the sticking point. If you're the Flames, you have to expect that Jersey wants at minimum 1.5 up to 3 million. So with basically 2 years left somewhere between 3 and 6 million. Are they really going to kill a deal over a few million?

But if you read the last few pages it appears the actual tie up was that Jersey thought they had a deal ready to go and Conroy said he'd like to open it up to a couple teams that were previously interested to see if they'd like to match or exceed the offer.
To which the Jersey GM blew his top and walked away.

Has anyone in the media reported this? That would be a pretty sloppy negotiation on Conroys part.

The Flames did not shop Hanifin around until after the all Star break, that is absolutely true. I never said nobody had called or they never listened if someone was interested, I said they had not been actively shopping him and were hoping to sign him, that has been confirmed by other insiders so I have no idea what you are ramblng on about here. If you think the Flames were actively trying to trade Hanifin before that time you are wrong. I never said teams had not called about him, like I said Arizona has been sniffing around all year, the intention on the clubs part was always to get him signed. Now time is getting short so the team has started shopping him around, that doesn't mean they still don't want to sign him if they could. Keep fishing trying to discredit me though.

If Jersey actually was that upset and walked away from the deal then ya sloppy. If other teams now know Jerseys out then ya sloppy. If you have to now circle back to Jersey ya sloppy. If you think you can negotiate with someone to the last second then pull out and they won't be pissed ya sloppy. Ask Edwards how he felt about Johnny. If you wanted to have teams bid up the price you should have made it clear to them all you were negotiating with multiple teams. Having said that who knows if any of this even happened its all speculation. But pulling out last minute to try and find a better deal is not a good strategy if that's actually what happened.

Not sure what your experience is in negotiations but from my personal experience, a deal usually doesn't get done until the seller has explored all potential avenues to extract maximum value from their asset. This is a natural understanding from the buyer as well. It's just business. It's not shady whatsoever unless the deal was fully agreed to and then the Flames pulled out which doesn't seem to be the case.

If the roles were reversed, I'm sure Conroy wouldn't be pissed if Fitzgerald went back to his other potential buyers. Suck it up, Fitz.

Tell us you’ve never negotiated anything of real value without telling us you’ve never negotiated anything of real value.

Have you ever watched an episode of Shark Tank? People lose deals all the time because last minute they try and get a better deal and the side they were negotiating with gets pissed and walks away.
