I honestly don’t think this franchise will embrace a rebuild unless/until the team sees back-to-back seasons of missing the playoffs, and maybe not even then unless one of those is a bottom-10 finish.
This is akin to the end of the Iggy era in my opinion, they are being forced into it and the question will be do they give it one more crack and then watch the UFAs walk. I am just glad there is no UFAs they can go overpay this offseason.
This franchise was always going to be dragged kicking and screaming into a rebuild. So its not the end of the world that their UFAs are forcing their hand

I could see management getting desperate and throwing out an absolute howler to ROR to try and cling to that 8th seed dream.

For all his business success, Edwards has never figured out the NHL and how to build a true Stanley Cup contending organization. Save for a couple of seasons it's largely been annual shortcuts and plugging holes.

ROR, Bunting, Orlov. If they wanted to, they could do it...

Edwards never gave a frog's fat ass about hockey or the city of Calgary, and still doesn't. It's all just passive income to pay for his Swiss summer home. Best way to keep that gravy train flowing is to get those 2-3 home games every spring. I think it really is that simple.

Lol there are far better and less stressful investments then a hockey team
If you have to work this hard to convince a player to stay, even if you eventually get him to agree to a deal by either massively overpaying for him or structuring a contract that's buyout proof, you probably should just not re-sign him anyway.

I desperately fear that the flames are going to fall with their typical sickness, and allow Backlund to somewhat pick his spot en lieu of extracting the best possible return
I get the feeling that Conroy is learning quickly on the job that being the guy is harder than it looked in the AGM chair. Things probably not going the way he envisioned. I hope he's got the stones to stick to what he said in his presser.
k im just not going to respond to your #### anymore because i have better things to do like #### my model girlfriend rather then try to convince people like you of commonly held hockey knowledge.
