I can see Conroy suggesting they won't pressure Lindholm, but I can also see him suggesting they will move on at such and such an hour. Thats not pressuring, its setting a deadline.

Well, I think at the end of the day, the Flames may have done what they realistically could to retain Lindholm, but the ball was always in his court. My hope now is he doesn't string things along like Johnny did and give them the space to work something out.

Be more like Chucky, Lindy. Please.

To clarify though that was 100% speculation on his part, not based on any actual rumors of ROR to Vancouver. Just him seeing a fit between player and team need.

Toews is a POS after how he handled the Beach situation. Fitting that he ends up in Edmonton.

So, in the last 12 months the Flames have been dumped by:

- Gaudreau
- Tkachuk
- Treliving
- Hanifin
- Lindholm (…pending)

I’m fine with this. Keep the cuts coming. Just embrace the new era.

Way better leaving cap space open and if guys like Pelletier, Zary, Coronato can step up in a few years, we won't have to face a bridge deal like we did with Tkachuk.

Toews is also 30% of the player he was. Maybe worse since he lives with Long Covid. I'm actually surprised Toews is entertaining playing still.

…I don’t think any of the players you listed there are of Tkachuk’s quality, so not really a concern in the same way.

Conroy “not pressuring” Lindholm is clearly a trade negotiation tactic. If he outright says there is a deadline then teams will try and put the screws to him on a deal.

I wonder what they are offering Lindholm?

I assume it's 8-years, but I'm guessing it's below $9M, but really don't know.

A rebuild is upon them, whether they accept it or not will go a long way in calculating my despair/hope pendulum.

I think the deadline relates to a time when he'll start entertaining moving him.

Conroy would be dumb to have a deadline to trade him by the draft, as teams then will try and put the screws to him.

While it would be nice to get a 2023 draft pick back, it's not essential. And as everyone will value 2023 draft picks higher, it's not like getting a 2023 pick means you are getting better value, as the kicker in those trades will be less, and maybe non-existent.

God our ownership/management has sure F'd us to this point.

I hope Conroy can shift this narrative. Make the trades now and do the re-tool.

Well no doubt it hurts a little that no one wants to stay here. It's going to a blessing in disguise that we are going to be forced to rebuild, hopefully. Hopefully they don't try to now just bandaid their problems with UFAS with the money they have. We need to re load on draft picks, short term deals to fill the gaps and go from there. Once things start to roll, it won't be so doom and gloom. Trying to "run it back" with the same old group of guys who haven gotten it done here for the last 6 years plus would have been a disaster in the long run

I’m not sure this is a bad thing at the end of the day. The team doesn’t have the makings of a Champion, and these players choosing not to stay here just forces their hand into thinking big picture rather than focusing on what’s directly in front them.

…maybe

I honestly don’t think this franchise will embrace a rebuild unless/until the team sees back-to-back seasons of missing the playoffs, and maybe not even then unless one of those is a bottom-10 finish.
