For 7 million? 60 points.
prediction: Kadri never tops 50 points playing on the Flames and takes key penalties in the playoffs that lose games for us over the next 2 years, then takes a massive dive in ability and is producing 12g and 18a a year, stumbling around on our third line blocking young players from getting ice-time and advancing into the organization.

7 is on the low end for the biggest FA fish on the market coming off a productive cup run. Let's be honest.
Term isn't ideal but the cap hit is frankly comfortable given how free agents like these typically get paid.

Maybe past suspensions at dumb times, but he seems to have matured.
Maybe the worry that he's cashed in and won his Cup and won't care (don't see that flying under Sutter so why would he sign here if that's our culture)
Probably his age and length of the contract, but the max term is what you need to get the top guys. Plus, brings down the AAV which is only a good thing in still a flat cap world.
The worst part of this signing for me is I can't decide whether I go with a Huberdeau or Kadri jersey. Though I had both Chucky and Johnny, so maybe I go with both!

You are correct, they will have those type of deals but they won’t be with the Oilers

I don't get the polarizing takes either.
I hope the extra resistance isn't a heritage thing. Maybe a personality thing. I can see some people thinking because of how he presents himself that he would take his paycheque, enjoy a championship under his belt and phone it in now.
Except it makes no sense because this guy is too proud and this is a Darryl Sutter team where that isn't tolerated.

You also have to consider the team Kadri is joining, a lot of complimentary players to put it mildly plus possibly the best coach in the game today, this will be a team to watch for sure.

So are we resolved on huberdeau-lindholm, mangiapane-kadri as pairings? Or might we see huberdeau-kadri play together?

|
Forwards who made $7 million AAV last season averaged 0.8 ppg or 65 points over 82 games. The range of point production was between 0.46 and 1.16 (Kadri had 1.23 ppg, but only made $4.5 million AAV). His point total from last season could drop off by 30% next season and $7 million would still be fair market value, and that doesn't even take into consideration the other aspects Kadri brings to the team.
So if Kadri gets at least 65 points next season, he would be pretty much in the average range for players making that amount. His point totals may go down over the course of the contract, but the value of what $7 million gets you probably goes down as the cap goes up as well.

I don’t want Tre done, I am on the Hanifin for scoring top 6 winger train.

I like toying with the idea of Huby-Kadri.
It's an out of box thought that might work well and maybe Lindy could even drive his own line as the 1B/2A. It's a different look, but we should consider any combination to see what gains traction.
They'd need a shooter with them though.

His average point total since entering the NHL, adjusting for 82 games each season, is 59. The last 5 years is 62.
Sounds like he's paid about right then.

Guys like Pavelski and Stastny are playing into their late 30's, why can't Kadri?

I think it would be:
Huby-kadri-toffoli
Mangi-lindy-dube
If we went that route.

Kadri isn't an offense only player so points per $$$ isn't the way to determine value here IMO

Who did Kadri spend his time playing with last season? Also for curiosity's sake, what is the website to be able to look at this stat?
