People really should watch council meetings and see their government in action. I think if people did they would never, ever in their right mind vote for numbskulls like Sean Chu or blatantly manipulative toadies like Jeromy Farkas.
Like FlameOn says, when you see the guy in action it's flabbergasting that people would vote for Chu. He was easily the stupidest council member. He was unable to follow discussions, would veer off on nonsensical tangents, and had to have basic procedures explained and re-explained to him. Every meeting I ever watched or attended it was painfully obvious how profoundly Chu was out of his depth.
And I've said it before and I'll say it again: those who criticized Nenshi for being arrogant because "he was always acting like he's the smartest man in the room" should have watched a council meeting. You'd see he was the smartest person in that room. I didn't always agree with his policy positions, but if I had to sit on the same council as Sean Chu I wouldn't have been able to contain my condescension either...

By my count:
Dhaliwal (5)
Walcott (8)
Carra (9)
Branagan (11)
Spencer (12)
Have all indicated their support for Gondek's stated intent to explore options to remove Chu from Council. I'd also expect Mian (3) to support Gondek on this — she tweeted her support for the victim in the Chu case prior to the election.

BC and by extension Vancouver used to be, we lived and died by board feet lumber prices when I first got here back in the 80's, now lumber is barely mentioned, the change over to movies and digital economy as well as Asian money laundering has been swift and impressive

One thing I noticed is there are comments here about those who voted for Chu.
How about the 60% or so of eligible voters who didn't bother?
maybe if some of those people got off their asses, Chu would have been gone.

CP 100% leans left. In the informal poll gondek had like 90% of the vote yet she won with 45%. Where are the 1/3 of CP voters who voted Farkas?

When I think of universal basic income, I'd prefer free cash over free Pepsi but that's just me.
I mean sure, a free Pepsi is fine if that's what they have. But I'd prefer to get the money to buy a Coke.

Leans Left or Center?
I get the sense that a lot of us are more Center with shades of left or right than anything.

We didn’t have a private poll. There are lots of likely Farkas/Davison voters among us.

Can anyone explain what declaring a climate crisis does? Do you get more emergency funding from the Feds/Province?
Or is it strictly symbolic.
Not criticizing either way, just curious.

Two things I'm sure of:
1) I'm not really sure what it means
2) The people who will make the most fuss about this don't know what it means either
