So much going on during the scrum. This was another frustrating game to watch as a Flames fan. Too many of our guys standing around or what appeared to be half an effort. I don't blame Engelland for the first goal because the Canuck that scored was uncovered while 3 flames watched the puck.

Anyway, that first line needs to get going. If Bennett is healthy maybe they should try him with Gaudreau or Hunter for a bit.

Oh and that comment on Twitter is absolutely disgusting. I'll go punch that guy in the head for you guys.
Meanwhile they allow Richardson to beat on a defenseless Stajan while he's on the ice.

Dorsett can handle his own and Stajan was in a much more vulnerable position. The officials essentially made it a 5on3 brawl in Vancouver's favor.

If Engo gets suspended then Dorsett should too for starting the 2nd fight.

Poor defenseless Derek Dorsett.

He had more major penalties during the regular season than the entire rest of the Canucks combined. He had 10 more major penalties this year than Engelland did.

One of the best post game day threads I've read. I love the Flames. Vancouver is only getting older with that core, the fact this is close right now definitely bodes well for the future of this series, and the Flames in general.

Game 3 will be epic!

Still chilling down south but able to watch games streaming, keep up the good work CP!

The way Dorsett explained it, it was the officials who invited Hamhuis into the fray at the end. They didn’t think they could control Engelland and wanted Hamhuis in there to help tie him up to try and reach a peaceful conclusion to the gong show, knowing Hamhuis is not a maniac.

Hamhuis, that good samaritan from Smithers who is no maniac, obliged, eventually helping to wrestle the savage beast to the ice.

Explains why Hamhuis was in there and didn’t throw a punch, doesn’t it?

Not attacking you, but is that quote serious? There's no way the refs can be that incompetent.

If Hamhuis was deputized by the linesmen, why was he given the Game Misconduct for third man in?

Engelland looks like that sad hitman monkey meme in those pictures

Heard lots of things, but the refs deputizing a player to break up a fight is certainly an interesting one...nevermind both refs watched as the linesman hold back Bollig and Ferland.

So its still showing 3 game misconducts for Engell against the same person. Will dept of player safety comment on suspensions, or are they just automatically assumed for the guys with 2 now?

That was truely bush league reffing at the end. Suspensions should be handed out to the refs for their actions (or lack of actions) towards the end

I am sure they are going to suspend Engelland, the NHL are cowards and wont do the right thing.

The refs might as well wear canucks jerseys as well, what a complete disgrace that was. I am still steaming from last night, watching as those cowards got in cheap shots while they just stood back and watched keeping our players from fighting back.

This was the best thing to happen to our team, it will bring us together even close and we needed a bit of a wake up call. I think this gets the blood going, even Johnny was into it last night. We got the fire in our bellys and we are going to destroy Vancouver Sunday.

I hope Ferland is on a seek and destroy mission. #3 on on Vancouver should be the first target he needs to be eliminated from the NHL.

From the province:

“We’ve had a little history in the past and when things get heated up you have to go with the situation. The only reason it was a 2-on-1, I was on my back and he kept punching and Hammer came over and grabbed him off. He (Engelland) was still trying to fight after we got him off and the ref was telling us to tie him up and he wasn’t quitting. We just tied him up and everything kind of died down and we were both standing there and kind of looked at each other and kind of came together again.”

Here’s what Hamhuis had to say about being the third man in and getting a game misconduct:

“I was worried about Dorse. I was kind of watching to see if Engelland was going to let up and he didn’t. He kept throwing punches when Dorse was defenceless on his back, so I had no choice to go in. They seemed to want to start something down there with the players they had on the ice. It was a situation where everyone was matched up and I was on my own and it was good because there came a point where Engelland ended up on top of Dorse and I was watching and hoping he would let off. That was pretty disrespectful when you have a guy down and you continue to punch.”
