Stop what? As I mentioned to you at the time, you were replying to a post of mine responding to someone suggesting we insert McGrattan specifically so he could attack someone and take the fine for doing so.
Again, if you had issue with that, you could have responded to the point.
So you think there is someone presently on their roster that would drop the gloves in a fight with McGrattan? And who might that be?
That was an exciting way to end a game where we were clearly going to lose. But approaching the next game by inserting a guy into the lineup who can't take a regular NHL shift is not a smart reaction. The Flames need to come out skating next game and take it to the Canucks on the score sheet and with physical play and speed.
Not by taking someone out of the lineup so McGrattan can play 3 mins where no one will fight him - and or attack someone who's unwilling (something he's never been known to do).

I'm done with the focus/dig/personal shot BS. You obviously don't know the difference between a question of current behavior and an insult
I would like to think Dorsett/Richardson would own up to what they did and answer the bell. They can't afford to show weakness right now going into Calgary. Even if no one fights McGrattan, just having him out there would make the Canucks think twice before doing anything dirty.
As for the icetime, Potter is only getting 5 minutes a game. It really wouldn't matter if it was him or McGrattan getting the time

Engelland shouldn't be suspended. If he does get a ban it's just because he is tough as nails. Hamhuis should have gotten the same penalty as Engelland as he basically just jumped Engelland once he saw Dorsett had been manhandled. Engelland then handled his own against the 2 of them before Dorsett came after him again by throwing the first punch.
Unbelievably harsh on Deryk by the refs.

All you ever needed to do was state what you were taking issue with. Tossing a drive by one liner contributes nothing to the discussion and just shows you feel unable to express what you're taking issue with.
Dorsett was turtling from Engelland. No way does he drop the gloves with Brian McGrattan. And as has been touched on many times before, McGrattan never just grabs another non-heavyweight and pummels them. It's part of the reason he became obsolete. No one would fight him and he couldn't take a regular shift. He also hasn't played hockey in weeks.
Potter's ice time really isn't relevant as he's a defenseman and McGrattan is a forward. Plus if Engelland isn't able to play Sunday, that puts us in an even bigger hole on the back end and Potter will be needed for sure if that's the case.

It certainly is being blown out of proportion. And it's not a critique on other posters either. Everyone is/was wound up in high gear. It's going to happen.
We do agree though Richardson should have eased up. That much is evident.
|
It wasn't just the severity of the elbow. It was the fact he was hitting someone while they were laying defenceless on their back.
The fact he continued to punch Stajan while he was laying on his back was bad enough. Adding the elbow, and the continued hitting even when his helmet was coming off made it that much worse.

Last I saw on NHL.com Engelland has two game misconducts, I expect the NHL to uphold the 1 game suspension, cause we are not the Habs or Leafs.

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Engelland's three game misconducts, I am told, are in different categories, so they don't cumulatively result in automatic suspension(s)...
@TSNBobMcKenzie: That said, Engelland could still be suspended as a result of the instigator penalty in the final five minutes. NHL apparently has 3 options:
@TSNBobMcKenzie: 1. @NHLPlayerSafety can uphold the instigator call, uphold auto one-game suspension and $10K fine to Hartley, or...
@TSNBobMcKenzie: 2. @NHLPlayerSafety can rescind the instigator, in which case there's no suspension to Engelland and no $10K fine to Hartley, or...
@TSNBobMcKenzie: 3. @NHLPlayerSafety can uphold instigator call, have it count towards running total for Engelland but choose not to enforce the suspension.
@TSNBobMcKenzie: So, basically, anything and everything, or nothing, could still happen and my head hurts. G'nite. I think.
@TSNBobMcKenzie: I may have forgotten to mention that, for now anyway, it doesn't look like anybody other than Engelland is in danger of being suspended.

Those pics of Dorsett and Hamhuis are pretty damning to the canucks no??? If the Canucks get away from this without any suspensions the NHL looks like a joke IMO. If Engelland gets a suspension I don't even know what to call that. Ferland will do what needs to be done Sunday, keep your heads up nuckers.

NHL.com earlier had three game misconducts, then it said two now it says three weird website. Still think the NHL will uphold the suspension, cause thats the Flames luck. Hope I am wrong

Well, after sleeping on it, the real culprits here are the referees. Lost complete control of the game, so when the inevitable happened, they didn't know what to do. Their inaction in the face of the brawl speaks of abject stupidity to me. If Hamhuis was right and he was told to restrain Derryk, whoever told him to do that should be fired. Isn't Richardson coming back from a concussion? And he felt the need to continue hammering on Stajan. That cries idiocy to me.
The NHL will do their review and do whatever they want. I thought Hartley's comments after the game were measured and calm, and that is what our team needs to do on Sunday. Calmly beat the crap out of those losers by scoring 10 goals on the legend. Go Flames!

The brawl was dumb. It was a run of the mill scrum that the idiot refs displayed complete incompetence in managing.
The flames starts to each game have brutal. They seem shell shocked heading into the first intermission in both games thus far. Monahan and hudler have played far too tentatively, and the team in general needs to start throwing the puck on net more. Lack is an average nhl goalie so the more shots and traffic the better.

^ yes, this is what has surprised me. The Canucks look better. Faster. I do not believe this is actually the case. The bonus is the split in spite of poor play. I expect the Flames back on track for Sunday

If you watch the first set of videos covering the brawl, there's an option called 'hero cam'. It focuses on Ferland at first, but then pans over to Engelland & Dorsett. It catches what the main camera didn't, and the reason why Hamhuis rushes over to Dorsett's aid. Engelland choke-slams a helmetless Dorsett to the ice and pounds the #### out of him. As a Flames fan I wouldn't say it was a cheap shot, but I would say it was total brutality.

Flames have basically played two garbage games and had Hiller steal game 1. Hiller is good but he's not Kiprusoff -- he won't steal a whole series. They need to be much better and play with much more confidence.
Fortunately they have a split coming home but they need to get whatever issues they have figured out and they need to do it by tomorrow.

Just want to put this here, not sure if posted. From The Provies
Quote:
The way Dorsett explained it, it was the officials who invited Hamhuis into the fray at the end. They didn’t think they could control Engelland and wanted Hamhuis in there to help tie him up to try and reach a peaceful conclusion to the gong show, knowing Hamhuis is not a maniac.
Hamhuis, that good samaritan from Smithers who is no maniac, obliged, eventually helping to wrestle the savage beast to the ice.
Explains why Hamhuis was in there and didn’t throw a punch, doesn’t it?
|
Oh and that comment on Twitter is absolutely disgusting. I'll go punch that guy in the head for you guys.
