As of April 1, 2012 theme packages on Telus Optik will be $7.00 instead of $5.25 for people currently in some sort of bundle deal.
From what I can figure, this is 3 price increases in a year's time. $4.50 to $5.25 to $7.00 in a year.
Again, their contracts DO NOT protect your prices. It is an equipment rental only thing. Don't believe the BS if they say its pricing.

Do they automatically update your boxes? I still have lag from when i hit the guide or record tv button to when the guide pops up. Seems like from this thread they updated the software recently?
If they don't auto update, how do I get the updated guide? Dig deep in the options?
One pet peeve of mine. When I watch sports in HD, and only sports.... Every so often the sound messes up and echos. I just have to hit pause and the play right away and it stops. It doesn't happen all the time, and ONLY when i'm watching sports in HD. It happened about 3 times during the Super Bowl. Annoying, but not the end of the world. Any possible explanation for that?

I think if you just take it to any Canada Post, they have boxes to ship it back, free of charge.

Can you get more than 1 HD stream at once MotoRacer? I have slightly better dl speeds in Nanaimo, but they still say they can't get me 2 HD streams.

Depending on the available bandwidth, you may be able to get more HD streams. You can call 310-MYTV and they can check for you. They might have to upgrade your port profile.

unfortunately, I asked them 3 times in the last month lol! I'm starting to get really frustrated paying all this money and having half my shows conflict all the time. I really liked telus at first, but now shaw is offering 6 HD streams, and i'd be happy with a mere 2. And I know its possible b/c I still get 12mbps dl when I'm watching HD. Over $130 per month for tv and net w/o any movie packages, I should be able to record 2 HD shows at once! I also asked about using my xbox as a secondary box w/o paying $150 for the technition and remote, b/c xbox now already has the optik app and as long as the net is wired, all you need is an activation code, but they wouldn't generate one for me. Do you know if they can generate activation codes without the $150 cash grab? My contract is coming to an end this year and shaw is looking reaaaly good! common telus, I'm still giving you a chance to catch up, better hurry though!

Has anyone looked into the upgrade to XBox gold that is now required to use the XBox as a set top box. I received a letter from Telus explaining that it would be required and the first year would be free. It seemed like a money grab at first, but the money doesn't go to Telus, you sign up directly with Microsoft so I assume Telus wouldn't put up with the complaints unless they thought it would be worthwhile for the consumer. (or maybe they get a kickback)
My question is what am I actually getting with the upgrade? 95% of the time I use the XBox as a STB so I don't think I will appreciate any of the non Telus related perks of the gold membership. Is it now $60 a year to be able to use hand and voice commands to change channels or is there more to it?
Thanks

After several calls Telus sent a tech out today and he ended up replacing the two boxes (the silver one and the small black one) for a single box. He also replaced the coax cable running from the modem to the XBOX with cat5. He seemed pretty confident that it would fix the problems I was having with the XBOX.
I've watched about 3 shows now, without any problems. First time in about 4 months I've made it through a 30 minute program without having 'recording not available' come up or have it freeze when skipping ahead.
So far so good, but I have a feeling the problems will be back at some point unfortunately.

Microsoft has made most of their video streaming related content part of their "Platnum Applications" which you need XBox Live Gold to use.
So now in order to use the XBOX as a TELUS Set Top Box (or a AT&T Set Top Box in the U.S., Rogers On Demand in the East) you will need to have a Xbox Live Gold account.
So it's not just to be able to use hand and voice commands, its to actually be able to use the XBOX as a set top box.

I've been having this problem since install date. I think tonight I'll try the "unplug three times" method and see if it gets any better.
Might be time to switch back to Shaw anyways.
