All it takes is two wild card picks at 3, 4 or 5 for a player we hadn't counted on being available, being available.
If there is a player that is available at 6, that we thought wouldn't be, there could be a significant market of teams picking 7-15 who might really jump at the chance/mortgage the future in order to trade up to the #6 spot.
Might be able to get a really significant asset Plus another pick in the top 10 or 15, and still able to snag the player they wanted at #6.
I have a feeling much of the activity right now is trying to move up in the draft to snag a specific player targeted by a team that is not a consensus 3-15 selection. Could be much of the of what we were hearing about multiple interviews for different kids is an indication that teams have significant differences on which players should be going when. This would make sense with this draft being categorized as 'deep'. Players some teams have slated for the 2nd round are likely thought of as potential top 15 picks by other organizations.
Like Ottawa when they moved up from 18 to 15 mid draft after Karlsson was still available, and they had targeted him to go much sooner.
If Calgary snags a player in the top 10, it might be far more worthwhile to turn the late round picks into multiple 2nds.
