6. Arizona GM Bill Armstrong refused to comment when asked, but it now sounds like the Coyotes are gauging the market on Jakob Chychrun. I’ve heard the ask is massive, but that doesn’t mean opponents are running away. He’s signed for three more years at a very reasonable $4.6 million AAV and is a terrific player. This is one to watch.

They already are all in. They only have 6 players including Chychrun signed for next season and not on ELC contracts. None of their RFAs look to be getting significant raises.

I fully expect them to leverage their cap space next season for more salary cap dumps and assets.

I think if we aquired him, he’d be our best D-man. He’s playing very badly this year, as is the rest of that team, but last year he had 41pts in 56 games. Bring him here, and put him with Sutter-sky’s the limit….

Wasn't Chychrun very comparable to Kylington in the sense that they both were trending to be top 5 picks but had serious defensive problems which caused them to fall in the draft? Would be super awesome if we ended up with both that reached their potential

I think Jakob Chychrun is practically the perfect player to play under a Sutter system.
The only things that concern me would be the acquisition cost (possibly still worth it) and his injury history. For his age, he seems to be one of the most injury-prone players in the league.

Chychrun was projected to be second overall in the 2016 draft, but just didn't blow anyone away during his draft year, although there was no primary concern about his game. Meanwhile Olli Juolevi rode a stacked WJC roster (Laine-Aho-Puljujarvi-Juolevi was basically a four-man unit) and a stacked junior team (Tkachuk-Dvorak-Marner-Juolevi was basically a four-man unit) to being the first D taken, where he was clearly not the best D available. I remember thinking I'd be happy with Sergachyev or Chychrun at 6th overall if Dubois/Puljujarvi were out of the conversation, but not Juolevi.

He had 49 pts in 62 games in his draft year, but scouts wondered about his offensive ceiling, and debated if he would be a franchise guy-hence why he fell to 16th, instead of being taken in the top-5. He was already an elite shutdown guy in the OHL, with great skating and a booming shot.

If we moved Dube we could bring in Pelletier to fill his spot. I am a huge Dube fan, think he has potential but he has certainly underperformed this year. The problem is we need cap space going the other way and Dube's contract isn't enough.
