Schmaltz is injury prone, which is why I looked past him. He's much like Pitlick in that regard. I could see the Flames trading for him, then him tripping coming up the jetway and being out for the season. Plus, he's not really a scorer. Not sure who he would compliment on the roster. The Flames need a finisher more than a setup man at this point.

Ondrej Kase has 13 points in 26 games, and makes 1.5 mill. Still young enough to improve. Right handed RW.
It's too bad the Flames didn't make more value signings like these. He's producing more than Backlund, Coleman, Monahan and Lucic while earning about 25% as much in terms of cap.
But then again, I also think the Flames should fully commit to a Sutter style system, at least for a year. Guys like Kase don't exactly fit that mold.

Maybe we are looking at this the wrong way. Who do the Flames have to trade, that wouldn't negatively effect the roster to a large degree, or sacrifice the future? The names that jump out are Zadorov and Pitlick.
The teams that can use Zadorov, are looking for defenseman : St. Louis (also desperately need a centreman (Richardson?), Islanders (maybe)....... so St. Louis is the one that jumps out. Oscar Sundqvist is a prototypical Sutter player, and the Blues have internal replacements for him when healthy (Logan Brown). Sundqvist scores more than double any of Pitlick, Richardson, Lewis or Ruzicka. That's not saying much, but it is an improvement at a low cost.
The team that loooooved Pitlick was the Flyers. They are playing waiver claims over there. It's a mess. I would pick up a wildcard in Wade Allison or a buried player like Matthew Strome. At worst they bolster Stockton, and allow Gawdin or Phillips to play with the big club.

The Blues protected an injured Sundqvist in expansion over Tarasenko and Dunn. Tells you how valuable they think he is
Also, the Blues Center depth when healthy are ROR, Schenn, Thomas and Bozak. Barbashev and Sundqvist also play center. I don't think they are in desperate need of centers

I was really high on Kase before he was shipped to Botson. The skill is undeniable, but his health is terrible.

Khudobin looking like age is finally catching up to him. Just 7 starts and an .873 Dave percentage and he’s clearly lost the net to Holtby and Oettinger. Honestly would be shocked if he gets claimed.

The Dallas strategy of having 4 NHL goaltenders appears to have paid off I guess. It's a good thing they had that cushion.

Yep, they clearly were still hoping Bishop could come back from his setbacks but alas that’s not to be. Landing a Holtby who is seemingly tapping into successful Holtby has been a bit of a boon for them and Oettinger playing lights out as the backup as been big for them too. Holtby and Oettinger moving forward with Khudobin getting starts in the farm leaves them pretty stable in net for the rest of the year too.

.873 is a poor Dave percentage.
Dave does not approve, therefore he's perfect for the Oilers.

Not sure why the tweet was removed but basically was just speaking to the initial inauguration of Florida and how the original owner who owned BlockBuster wanted to name the team the Floride Block Busters lol.

Not bad, and I tend to think they might have ended up being pioneers in bringing the NHL direct-to-video replay.
