Looked more like 'shoulder up' to me. ;D

A Blues/Flames WCF would pose quite the little dilemma for Keith I’d guess.

Surely you cheer for your kid and not the team you played for 12 years ago. You don't owe the city anything.

Before OT started, an oilers friend texted me saying that Benn and Pavelski, given all of their playoff experience, would have had something to say to rally the stars. My response was “do you not think Lucic with 11 game 7s doesn’t have anything to say in the Calgary dressing room.” No response.

Oettinger played out of his mind the whole series, and part of that was due to being too young and naïve to realize he shouldn't be playing this well. I would say the one thing he didn't have was a book on NHL shooters, especially the most dangerous ones. An NHL vet might have known that Johnny likes to try that shot, even though he hasn't done it much this year. Oettinger's positioning was correct based on where the puck was, on the understanding that by going down on one knee (RVH), you do leave a small gap open over your shoulder.
You'll sometimes see Markstrom -- who despite being 6'6 -- will compensate thrusting his shoulder and upper body upwards to try and close that gap. Maybe Oettinger was tired after 66 shots, maybe his bell was rung a bit by Lindholm's shot immediately prior (which I think hit him in the mask -- I believe it even left a black puck mark on his white cage), but he left that opening and that was all Johnny needed to convert. Eight years in the making.

He couldn’t bring himself to put on a red shirt. I hold no preconceptions, just musing.

Oettinger's cat almost absurdly resulted in a loss for the Flames.

This is a fun joke we have between us, he doesn't care who wins or about hockey. He says things like "maybe I will watch the game so the Flames lose and it will piss you off" and then laughs. It is in fun, it isn't a father and son watch hockey together thing. It's a we like to annoy eachother to get the others goat thing.

With that goal last night The Battle of Alberta has been set in motion. Something that should have happened in 2006. That loss against the Ducks did nothing but place baggage on this team in every big game situation ever since. I’ve nervously doubted this team in every one of those scenarios.
Last night those Demons were cast aside. I/we can breathe a sigh of relief. No more questions about this group of players, they showed up, they grew and they succeeded.
Now it’s round 2, B of A. Let them play, no matter of outcome - without the shroud of doubt, we as fans can have fun again.
Let’s ####ing go!

Great story on 960 right now (Marek?) about Dallas trading up in the draft to get in front of Philly to draft Oettinger 26th OA (it is believed that Hextall was going to take him at 27)

What a draft that turned out to be for Dallas. Heiskenan (though they picked one spot ahead of Makar so could have been better), trade Crowse and Boland for the pick to get Oettinger, trade Jurco for the pick to get Jason Robertson

Too jazzed to sleep after last night's game so went back and watched some of the highlights of the series.
The thing that stood out to me the most was that Oettinger basically played 7 games of positionally perfect hockey. Few crazy athletic saves, no Hasek-like crazy-flop saves, no overstuffed Giguere pads - just a guy playing his position as well as it can be played.
The number of saves he made that - if he were even an inch out of position to the left or right - would have gone right by him into the net... I lost count at around 11 and wasn't past game 4 yet.

Goalie scouting is getting way better, and teams willing to take a goalie in the first round are finding some darn good value.
Recent examples:
Spencer Knight: 13th overall
Jake Oettinger: 26th overall
Ilya Samsonov: 22nd overall
Andre Vasilveskiy: 19th overall
I would suggest recent ones too (Askarov, Wallstedt, Cossa) will end up being good picks too though Cossa's size (too big) worries me a little.

I don't sweat it, that sad guy is just a mega troll who hangs out in the off topic boards mainly to stir the pot. Remember how I said the rules don't always apply? This clown is the prime example. Adds nothing to the board at all. I actually feel sorry for him his life is so empty he has to find enjoyment in attacking other posters constantly. Sad.

LOL, and Oettinger is the alternate reality of Schrodinger. Luckily, Oettinger's ##### cat (aka Natalie Gauvreau) only shows up in Dallas!
