See, that's where you misunderstand how words work. Being factually wrong is not a "different viewpoint". I've never really understood how people like you revel in being deceived. Like, do you enjoy being known as a rube who believes in propaganda and misinformation? They use you, and you let them. Is that a good feeling? Why would you want that?

Musk hoping Trump takes some attention away from him.

Starting a funding drive where you pay to get Trump back, or pay to keep Trump away, but keeping all the money either way, seems like the biggest money making opportunity.

Musk should probably look to Reddit to find out how and why they're profitable. And it's not that complicated.

One thing he doesn't understand is that he thinks he bought a tech company, when in reality he bought a community of users, a place in which, without moderation, would absolutely allow polarizing voices to poison and pollute the platform.

Personally I think the dude pandered to the right-wing by buying Twitter by pumping freedom of speech virtues, and is going to soon realize that a community needs levels of control to operate effectively, otherwise it craters. Just like society with normal people in it.

According to internal records viewed by CNBC, employees from Musk’s other companies are now authorized to work at Twitter, including more than 50 from Tesla, two from the Boring Company (which is building underground tunnels) and one from Neuralink (which is developing a brain-computer interface).
Quote:
Several Twitter employees told CNBC over the weekend that Tesla employees now at Twitter have been involved in code review at the social network, even though their skills from working on Autopilot and other Tesla software and hardware do not directly overlap with the languages and systems used to build and maintain the social network. These employees asked not to be named because they’re not authorized to talk to the press about internal matters, and feared retaliation.

For example, most engineers in automotive companies, even the tech-forward Tesla, do not have experience designing and operating search engines and platforms that are broadly accessible to the public.
Quote:
In an atmosphere of fear and distrust, many Twitter employees have stopped communicating with each other on internal systems about workplace issues. What’s more, some of Twitter’s Slack channels have gone nearly silent, multiple employees told CNBC.
Meanwhile, Musk and his inner circle have been plumbing archived messages in the systems, ostensibly looking for people to fire and budgets or projects to slash.
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/31/elon...o-twitter.html

The whole article is worth a read, but it sure doesn't sound like a fun place to work! I guess Autopilot must be feature complete if they can spare all the employees. I'd be pretty livid if I was a Tesla shareholder.

Quote:
Typically, when Tesla employees work for other Elon Musk ventures, usually SpaceX or the Boring Company, they can get paid by the other venture as a consultant. Some of Musk’s employees have full-time roles at more than one of his businesses. For example, Tesla Vice President of Materials Charlie Kuehmann, is concurrently a vice president at SpaceX.

At other times, two Tesla employees told CNBC, workers at the electric automaker are pressured to help with projects at his other companies for no additional pay because it’s seen as good for their careers, or because the work is regarded as helping with a related party transaction or project.

Why won't Musk defenders just admit he did what he always does; craps out a terrible idea in public, knowing that the usual cadre of dickriders will carry water for it, and then walks back/abandons said idea once everyone points out how terrible/stupid/cruel it is?

If this is true then 5/5 = $75M or 4/5= $60M.

Quick google tells me there are 400k blue check users. $240/yr = $96M. But presumably there'd be an annual plan at say $200M...however you slice it its hard to see more than $60M/yr from this in a best case scenario. lol.

And how many of those verified users are still active. If he wants to improve the experience of Twitter and get rid of bots/ basement dwellers, he should be charging the non-verified accounts.

Verified accounts generate traffic, i.e.: revenue. Twitter almost owes blue check people money based on # of clicks/views they generate.

Kinda like a video platform I've heard of.

This is great. As someone not on Twitter let the Tweeters and the Muskovites eat each other.

Something else will pop up to take its place and life will go on.

I guess this is happening now? This guy seems like an impulsive teenager versus the genius businessman people project him to be.

Nothing screams "Power to the People!" more than charging a subscription for a "service".

So anyone gets a blue check if they pay? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of it?

It's important for citizen journalists to be verified. It's just that all they're verifying is that they can blow $8 a month.
