If I was Molberg I'd be asking Hudler all the questions he skipped out on during garbage bag day.

Sure Hiller/Ramo may be comparable right now, but unquestionably the upside of Talbot or Lehner is much higher. And this is what it boils down to for teams like the Flames or Oilers who're looking at these guys. Young teams, looking to acquire a young goaltender that is on the cusp of being a #1 for years to come. We have Ortio and Gillies, but goaltending depth is a luxury that you can maybe use to redistribute for other assets to round out the roster down the road.
Not as crazy as some are making it out to be. It's not about next year, it's about the 3-5 years after where the Flames' championship window will conceivably be open.

Their upside hardly unquestionable.
There's no reason to make this move.
Edit: there's reason, there's just no need.

Eric Fehr and Jay Beagle, two players flying under the radar if they hit the market. Several teams with interest #Caps #NHL

For me, a goalie is always the last piece you need to be a contender.
Look at the goaltenders that were in the conference finals this year. Andersen, Crawford, Bishop, and Lundqvist. Only one of them is elite, the other three are demonstrably average.
We have plenty of goalies in our system right now (Gillies, McDonald, and Ortio). I see to reason whatsoever to spend assets on another when, ideally, you are only supposed to play one goalie per game.
The void is not there.

Didn't Burke say the first thing you need to be a contender is a goalie and build from the back end out?
Last I saw, Edmonton and Buffalo had atrocious goaltending.

Both are good bottom 6 options, but that seems to be the Flames' strong suit. It wouldn't make much much sense to go after these guys.

I wonder if Kessel chose his eight team list based on his favorite fast food cities?

Don't mind Eric Fehr's game, but the way I see it we already have too many forwards, so some room would have to be made first. Makes us bigger tho, and he is probably good for 15-20 goals.

He said that, but I think a more accurate statement is you build from the defence out and a great defence will make an above average goalie all you need.
Good goalies are going to look bad behind bad defences.

Lehner makes some sense he is only 23 with years left on his deal and is a RFA when his ck tract expires. Talbot makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. If the Flamea gave up 2 2nds for him basically they would have to invest in him long term or they would look silly giving up quality assets for a guy that could walk in the summer

He had three good years in EDM too, playing behind a team that can't spell d-fendtz.
I really don't think Flames have a goaltending issue, there were stretches last year when goalies kept the Flames playoff chances alive. I'm not seeing surefire improvements in any of the golaies available, so why waste the asets getting them? If they started the season with the same guys, why would that be bad this year?
IMO Treliving is just kicking tires to establish value for Hiller because come training camp Flames might have some tough choices. I doubt Hiller gets you much at the draft. Maybe the lack of interest in Kari allows the Flames to sign him cheap.

Not that I want this to happen what so ever, but what would happen to Jim Hughson if the Flames acquired the legendary of Eddie Lack?

If the Pena want Hudler then one of their Dmen needs to be coming back. (Pouliot, Harrington)

Hudler to the Pens for a dman actually seems like it makes sense for both teams.

Call it overpayment, but I only move Hudler to the Pens for Pouliot.
