Don't think there is any point at this stage. Teams can talk to UFAs on Thursday.

Doubtful anyone will trade for essentially 24 hours of an exclusive negotiating window.

no

only the most desired UFAs will garner a return just for the rights to talk to them.

There will be multiple goalies on the free agent market this summer

The Leafs were a disaster last year, and that starts with management.

Aside from that, Kessel has scored 30-37 goals a year since he was 21 (scored at a 34 goal pace in the shortened season). That's world class. full stop. how many is he going to put up if he gets to play on a team with some legitimate playmakers? 50-60?

Lets not forget what Kessel had accomplished previous to last year, and is likely to repeat.

lol - exactly what I was referring to above.

It clearly hasn't occurred to you, but the flip-side of the 'he had Bozak as a C' argument is that he also got cart blanche to play nothing but pure offense. He also got 1st line PP duty all season.

The weak C argument is vastly overdone - he was given as big of a green light offensively as is possible.

On a real team that actually tries to WIN games, there is also a thing called defensive responsibility

He scored 25 last season......so, no.

Listen, he's a good player that can score. No denying that. But he's not a one of a kind player in the league. There are other players that can score as much or more than he can (40 players last year, to be exact). And most of those players don't have the awful contract Kessel does. If he gets traded he'll bring back a decent return, but teams aren't going to give the Leafs the world for him.

Dubnyk doesn't see Thursday, when he can begin talking to other teams, as deadline to get deal done w/Wild. But he won't close doors either.

Rangers turned down 2 2nd rounders for Talbot. I wonder what team offered that? Flames? Oilers?

Nonsense, if the NHL was not based on Earth he would be the best player on Earth. He is easily the best NHL goalie in at least 140 countries.

And he looks like TJ Miller.

I really like the guy. But one of those numbers doesn't belong. Not for a 30+ year old in his 9 full season.

No comment on Kessel. But I think some might be over valuing Hudler's trade value.
It's the magic of Johnny Hockey, You just have to look at part 2 of AC's Gaudreau video to see that. As much as I don't want Kessel anywhere near this team he's a finisher and would score a lot of goals with Johnny.

K, off of the Leafs chat....

I think Ryan Pulock would be a great target for this team. 6'2, 212lb, right handed 20 year old D-man on a team that is LOADED on the back end. The Isles have Boychuk, Leddy, Hamonic, de Hann, and Hickey in the NHL, and Reinhart, Pulock and Mayfield coming through the ranks. That is 8 NHL d-men.

Could we get Pulock for 2 2nd's + a prospect? or Hudler and a 2nd?

I'd be in on us signing Dubnyk.

Better to sign Dubnyk rather than giving up picks for Talbot, no?

Depends on his contract, and whether last year was a fluke or not. Unless he's willing to take a one or two year deal, it's too risky IMO.

Why couldn't it be 2nd rounders from different years? Could be sharks

If the Flames trade two seconds for Talbot I will not be at all impressed.
