Well we definitely aren't on the same page then, because I haven't seen anything that shows this guy was convicted of anything. Unless you've somehow managed to get your hands on all of the evidence I'd say that you also have no idea if he is guilty.

So in your world people shouldn't be entitled to competent legal representation when accused of a crime? We should just round 'em up and lock 'em up? The hell with a fair trial right?

No, I admit the only real evidence I have seen is the guy admitting he did it... along with a small measure of faith that not every police action in Mexico is corrupt.

Agreed, which is why I can't grasp how raising money so that this guy can have a competent defense and we are sure that he's actually guilty makes you an idiot.

I don't, at least not entirely. If you are going to appeal to the public for justice, funds, etc. then the public deserves to know facts of the case. They don't need every sorid detail, but to say they don't owe any explanations isn't really true.

I actually don't remember there being much in the way of requesting public support in this incident, they seem to have tried to deal with it on their own. The media kind of ran away with this story iirc.

For the most part you don't see victims go on TV and tell the world what happened until after a trial.

to the best of my knowledge the victim has not said anything - at this point i'd say that we need to make up the story.......
