Not much from the Meican side of things, I don't think that a trial date has even been set yet

I dont think they're going to bother much with a trial.

If the nabobs aren't talking then there does not seem to be too much for the media to follow up on.
As for the guy in Mexico, I find it hard to believe that the Mexican police could solve any case that quickly

They just rounded up the local troublemaker and pinned it on him in order to keep up a good image for the tourists.

I disagree, they never put the entire story together, did she get dragged out of the room? was she partying it up while the husband was asleep.
I thought we'd get her version or a family version when she returned. She doesn't owe anybody an answer, and we are not entitled to one, but there were lots of wide open questions that nobody ... that I can tell, have really answered.

I will try and find the link, but there was a story about a month ago of a group of Canadians that were raising money for the Mexican that was accused... Err, i mean confessed to the crime- A solid example that there are plenty of idiots in Canada.
While there are some details to this story that we will never know (nor do we even have the right to know), my guess is this story grew in popularity thanks to people that grew bored of talking about stuff like thermite and building 7.

Yes, the many "idiot" Canadians who reside in Mexico and have a little more insight into the way Mexican authorities work in circumstances like this.
The fund raising initiative to support the legal costs of the accused was the initiative of Canadians actually living in Mexico, what does that tell you ?
I think there is far more than meets the eye to this story and the truth may yet come out.

Idiots, or canadians living in Mexico that likely know more than us about the corruption and incompetence down there?

You need to live in Mexico to know that corruption exists there??? Everyone knows it does, but it is ridiculous to assume that it exists in every single event that takes place in the country.
Would these enlightened Canadians living in Mexico only be satisfied if a foreigner/tourist had been arrested? Or was it supposed to take the police 7 months to find the guy? Find him any sooner and the automatic conclusion is that he is a scapegoat. The guy was a regular visitor at the hotel, lived in the area, was allegedly caught on video, , was seen by various withesses with the couple before the incident, and confessed to the crime- therefore, the conclusion must be that the husband did it.

And afterward it came to light that they forced him into the confession. He also had no knuckle bruises or cuts despite having said he punched her in the face repeatedly until her skull was caved in. Believe what you want but there is obviously something fishy with this case and it looks more and more like we'll never know the truth.

to me his arrest photo which is somewhere in this page looked ridiclous - he was flanked by a couple of heavily armed people (possibly police - who knows for sure) in "tac" gear.
To me the whole thing screamed look Canada, we caught someone who did something to antoehr Canadian - it is safe to come here and visiit us and spend your money.
At this pointI'd be stunned if the Nabb's ever came forward to offer thier side of the story that plausibly explained what went on.

I have my doubts that she will even remember what happened considering both the amount of alcohol she had plus the injuries to her head. I also agree with the person above who said that as much as we would all like to know, they don't owe us an explanation.
I do find the stories funny though about how they got off the plane and immediately started to get completely wasted by doing shots of hard liquor. I would almost guarantee that if they drank responsibly, they likely wouldn't have found trouble. There is quite often a correlation between alcohol consumption and one finding themselves at the wrong place at the wrong time. The wonders of alcohol... In no way do I think she deserved what happened, but people need to be smart and make the right decisions to keep themselves safe as well.

The accused said elements of his written confession were coerced but still admits to committing the crime- he even said in front of dozens of reporters, after making the forced written confession allegation, that he committed the crime when he was high and drunk. Find me a link to an article where the guy is absolutely adamant that he didn't commit the crime and claims to being fully coerced into admitting guilt and I will consider changing my stance.
Let's put it this way- all of the evidence in the case could be revealed to the public and Sheila Nabb could come out with a very candid and honest interview about what happened- even so, we would still have the same people claiming a conspiracy.

He didn't hand write a confession, he was forced to sign two seperate confessions without being able to read them. The facts presented in the case have never added up.

Im willing to concede that there are strange elements to this case if those on the other side of the argument promise to stop ending their posts with phrases like "there is more to this story" and the "the facts don't add up".

dad was right, nothing good happens after midnight....no part of me thinks she deserved any of this, but anyone who has been at an all inclusive knows that often people act like idiots (not saying that is the case for this lady).

They conceal themselves so they don't get murdered along with their families.

Because they are raising money for a guy that beat a fellow Canadian within an inch of her life...
ya I know, insert the comments about his supposed innocence- if we are not on the same page with regards to this man's guilt, there is no point arguing this.
