Seattle has an abundance of middle 6 right shot players. Albeit, none of these guys are world beaters, but they're definitely an improvement on Pitlick/Ritchie for middle 6 RW.

Eberle
Donskoi
Appleton
Jarnkrok
Geekie
Blackwell

Donskoi's the best of that bunch. Not exactly sniping this year - 0 goals, 12 assists. Eberle has an MNTC, and he's 31 making a fair pile of money.

I wonder if the NHL could have some sort of rule where you can go over the cap in season by something like a maximum of $3 million but attach a penalty to that like a 2nd round draft pick. Think it would help teams that are making a push into the playoffs but still make them pay for doing so.

Think would open up the trade market a lot as obviously most contenders are at the cap and it's very hard to make a trade these days.

Just be able to straight up trade cap for assets would solve that problem.

^^^ they basically allow for this too with other teams just eating retention to help facilitate; for example the Evander Kane rumour out there suggesting that the Sharks will eat 50%, a 2nd team will then also eat 50% and the final team ends up with a 7 mill AAV player at 3 quarters of the cost.

I think the biggest issue id have with allowing teams to go over the cap by whatever millions amount of dollars at the cost of picks is that you’d see the really consistently good teams in the league like Tampa, Boston, Washington etc. constantly going ‘all in’ while still be attractive UFA destinations in the off-season to shore up any small deficiencies trading mid picks would cause on the franchise long term. To have those teams constantly reloading would remind me of the MLB when it comes to playoffs and the teams that you typically see make it.

Not sure how big of an impact it would have if the amount of cap a team could go over it was within reason but I still hate the thought of the rich getting a annual chance to get even richer.

Quit melting the ice with them flame balls. Especially when they do it for fun between periods and before the game.

If they'd trade Morgan geekie I'd shoot for him. Has hidden upside.

Gaborik missed two months and 22 games from late December to late February, right before he got traded to the Kings in 2014. Also missed 17 games before that injury.

Toffoli should be good to go after the Olympic break, which is still a month before the trade deadline. I hope he’s still an option.

He'll have about 30 games to acclimate himself to his new team after he gets back from surgery. Definitely still an option.

Claude Giroux wins a cup with the Calgary Flames? That’s not really what the article is about but that’s immediately where my head went.

I really like Tomas Hertl... would be a solid center and I feel like the Sharks would trade him away at the deadline if the Sharks aren't in a good spot by then. Monahan + maybe a pick? We're probably going to need to clear cap space anyway next season and Hertl could probably sign somewhere else next season anyway

He was one of my suggestions, but I got shot down, and rightfully so. He has an extensive NTC, is likely a rental anyways, and is not likely to be traded while SJ is doing so well....

They would be able to get a first round pick + for him. Without taking on that much unwanted cap.

I threw this out last week. I think it would be a great fit.

Giroux would be awesome, but I think he's kinda in the same situation as Hertl- he would be expensive to aquire, and he's UFA at the end of the year....

He plays with a chip on his shoulder, and he excels in any type of game-be it nasty and physical, or fast and skillful. He would be fun to watch on this team.

Giroux on that first PP in place of Monahan would make it an extremely scary first unit. Would be an expensive rental but either him or Bergeron… if they did become available at the TDL, would be hard not to consider. Either player could push this roster over the top IMO
