It’s almost as bad as the people who debate whether it was realistic for the Arbor to have the best wine in game of thrones.

This whole thing smells like desperation. They probably had a plan for the new avengers, then the latest Captain America movie completely bombed and the Avengers TV series bombed and they did the old somehow Palpatine . . . errr Captain America came back.

I mean, both time travel and a multi-verse have been established, so they’re not exactly locked into wherever we last saw someone.

I’m skeptical TBH, but the Russos have earned the grace to be open minded for me. For some reason, they just have a knack for making it make sense in a satisfying way when it comes to this stuff.

Im assuming they'll pluck him out of the 40's and bring him back to present day, setting up a big battle with Him and "Tony/Doom" with everyone confused why he looks like Stark. The whole resetting of the MCU multiverse saga.

Why don’t you know anything about ships? That’s the real question.

There's a lot of different things that could happen. I'm guessing Cap's choice to stay in the universe where he married Peggy somehow leads to the Tony of that universe becoming Doom. Maybe his parents are killed when he's younger and he's orphaned or something.

Doom could be trying to pull universes together, or destroying all but his own, or maybe wanting to land where Tony died and replace him.

It's pretty limitless, which is why it will be tough to pull something together that makes satisfying sense. If it gets too far up its own butt, people will check out. But the Russos seem to consider the Avengers story to be Caps story more than anyone's, so whatever happening I'm guessing it's pretty connected to that Cap specifically and his choice, and not just going to be a "we need a Captain America so go get him for the final battle!"

I mean sure, it's a myth, but it's a myth set in certain time, place and culture. None of that gives me even a little bit of ancient mythic Mediterranean vibes. I really don't see Odyssey as a story that was asking for a gritty realism interpretation with a black and brown color schemes.

Kinda cheap and plastic looking too, there's game cutscenes with more convincing armor than that.

Not a great excuse. With a Hollywood budget, you could build a ship. Historical ships and boats are typically built by amateurs with at best a museum budget. I literally know people who built a viking ship like that on their spare time.
It’s a myth set in a certain time, place, and culture, which included a bunch of historical inaccuracies like weapons, armor, and cultural influences that came 500+ years after the period in which it was set.

I studied ancient literature in university and I still just could not bring myself to be bothered by any inaccuracies if I tried. It’s different than studying history. That wasn’t the point of these poems and myths when they were written and I think you’re missing the point if you think it should be now. Historical accuracy is neat but doesn’t necessarily make a good piece of entertainment (see: the very boring Northman from an otherwise pretty great director).

If you think this is historically inaccurate you should probably avoid O Brother, Where Art Thou? lol
