Since when are the Mets printing money? What a wild past couple seasons for them. On the other hand I wonder what Giants fans are thinking? Must’ve been something very concerning for them to walk away from a marquee signing.

This is why I like sports with salary caps. (And high salary floors) Stupid joke of a sport here.

Steve Cohen is worth like $13 billion. They might spend even more if they don't win this year.

This is absurd. All that spending for 85 wins. Book it. Joke of an owner for a joke of a franchise.

If they don't win now (and counting on 38 and 40 yo aces is rarely a winning bet), then they are going to have a mess to deal with for years after Cohen tires of throwing his money away.

I could be wrong but anecdotally I have more confidence in pitchers who’ve made it to 38 than guys looking to cash in on their first breakthrough contract at 30. If you’ve cleared 37 and and still deal you have a wonder arm and those tend to be fine.

There's some truth to that, but they all have an expiration date where they hit the wall at some point. Max only pitched 145 innings last year and didn't look so great by playoff time. Verlander is probably a bit of a better bet, but at 40, he's getting into uncharted territory for being a dominant pitcher.

The SF debacle hurts the Giants but it also cost Correa a year at $35 million. There’s no way he’ll recoup that money. He’ll still be loaded beyond belief but it’s hard for me to imagine $35 million going into thin air.

Trevor Bauer has been reinstated by the league, it sounds like the Dodgers are going to release him.

I wonder if any team will employ him now?

I could see the Rangers or Mets not giving a crap.

Sports teams in general show they have little values in real life. When it comes to money, and getting wins they’ll let their PR people produce their talking lines. I have no idea which team will do it but 99% chance he’ll be signed Bu a team going all out to win.

I'm sure the Mets could use a reliable 6th man for their rotation.

I could see the Astros making a play. Everyone already hates them, and they already broke that barrier by acquiring Osuna.

Mutts are concerned with Carlos Correa’s physical. Deal might be in jeopardy.

LOL indeed

Both NYM and the Giants have brought up concerns with a 2014 leg injury. The guy has been injury prone, it's not news. I'm surprised the Mets care that much, we'll see if they shave off some money.

Yeah physicals are usually formalities. The fact that two teams are concerned speaks volumes and it can't be just a little thing.

Twins probably rushed through it last year knowing he wasn't going to be there long term but happy to get the pop of positive PR.

Though it's probably not a good idea to poke the bear, any team that can also be able to get the upper hand on Scott Boras, they'll take, for future considerations.

So next team will give him 280 million over 11 years? The pool of gold coins in Boras' vault might not be as deep this year.
