AltaGuy has a magnetic personality and exudes positive energy, which is infectious to those around him. He has an unparalleled ability to communicate with people, whether he is speaking to a room of three or an arena of 30,000.

They did a great job of setting that up. Making him seem like he was full of it, buy then he wasn't.

The casting for the blacksmith who gets Vermithor is bad ass, looks like a Viking.

Oscar looking Daemon in the eye and telling him he F-ed everything up in front of all the Riverland lords was definitely bad ass. He's giving Lyana Mormont a run for her money.

That was awesome. The scene where The Witcher claims his dragon was intense. The one shot hiding behind the rock and then (seemingly) sacrifice himself for the girl was great.

Damn Daemon... got politically out maneuvered by a 14 year old. Maybe it is time to give up these crown aspirations.
I do wonder how loyal these bastard dragon riders will be. This is their chance to really stick it to the noble houses that abandoned them.
While I get Jacerys' point that the bastard dragon riders will weaken his strongest claim to be Raenyra's heir, it doesn't matter if she doesn't win the war.
Also saw weaknesses that Aemond and Vhagar have. Because Vhagar is so fricking huge, they have to keep her outside the city. Aemond also still struggles to control her when she wants to fight other dragons.

I didn't realize we only have one more episode this season. A lot has happened but it still feels like we're going to end in a similar spot as last season.

I think 2 years between seasons is a little crazy for only 8 episodes, and especially with the Harrenhal/Daemon filler, I'm not sure it has been worth it.
I'm hoping it ends on a strong note to maintain my interest for another two year wait but I think the quality this season has gone down significantly (I really, really enjoyed season 1).

Season 3 is supposed to drop in about 1.5 years....it's a horribly long wait though, as they're likely to end season 2 off, just when all the action starts.

This week was epic. I couldn't even guess anymore what CGI costs, but those dragons looked phenomenal and if you told me they found real dragons to film, I could believe you. I'm just going to go ahead and guess the production cost factors heavily to the shortened season.
The dragons have been a strength. They just look so freaking cool, and there's a lot of substance around them.
Season two has been tremendously entertaining--especially compared to S1 which just didn't click with me for a pile of reasons.
We're nearing the end of this season and while I could still only name maybe four characters In the entire show, I at least have a sense of who's being referred to most of the time!

Great episode. Could be top 3 in the show so far. There was some meaningful movement and a couple of iconic scenes that people will look back on.
The season has been uneven, but on the whole I've liked it a lot. I might be a different kind of fan though. I have all the time in the world for watching them set the chess board in this universe. It's enjoyable to me. I just wish there were more episodes to sink our teeth into.
The seasons are too short! 10 one hour episodes are a must.
I like the contrast between Hugh Hammer and Ulf and that both are picked regardless haha. We're seeing more sides to some of these characters, like Rhaenyra taking risks and getting her hands dirty (even a bit of smugness there at the end) and Daemon getting put down a peg by the kid. Overall, things are more interesting than where we started out.
Early in the season I was missing the young actors and Viserys but now it's a lot better.

I agree with you. The dragons aren't just CGI window dressing for action scenes any more. They're really brought them to life in this show. At this point they're their own characters who share the physical space with these characters. Visually it couldn't be more convincing if you're looking at that episodes specifically.

I for sure thought Alicent was going to drown herself lol. Her scenes were pointless, should've edited it out for more dragons instead!

Apparently HOTD is 20 million per episode (total) which sounds crazy, but it's less than Stranger Things S4.

I was kind of worried that they would cheap out on the special effects because of the cost, but I'm blown away so far. The dragons are the best part.

Honestly nowadays the internet hates everything, even CP. based only on online reactions you’d think this was the worst show ever instead of the best show on TV at the moment. It’s far superior to pretty much everything GOT after season 5. It also blows the production values of seasons 1-4 out of the water. By comparison the entire Dany storyline is campy.
I’ve loved every second of this season. I’ve found it far superior even than season 1, and I thought S1 was strong (with two major exceptions).

It's nowhere near as good as top level GoT. It's really missing that large ensemble of top level cast, that you never knew who was going to survive the episode. That show really was special in the first five seasons.
Do agree though that's it's better than the last few seasons, and definitely one of the best shows on tv. There wasn't an episode this season that I didn't enjoy. The show does typically get about an 85-90 on Rotten tomatoes, which I think is actually pretty fair. It's a very good but not perfect show.
A lot of reviewers have made their career from being contrarian and you just have to ignore those people.
