Either way my expectations are very low in regards to the next head coach as this organization has only got that hire right once in the last 30 years and may just be the worst organization in the NHL when it comes to hiring coaches.
I think, as much as we dislike it, the opportunity to coach McDavid would be a compelling sales point that the Flames can't match.

Exactly.

What's the point of creating Flames-specific content if we can share it here of all places?

I read it more of a tongue-in-cheek/joke opportunity to post a haiku.

Well written, albeit maybe not as enjoyable (due to the actual content), read there.

^ yeah and they went to the stretch pass in game two and it was an abject failure.

Sometimes the opposition is just ... good.

This is fair question, and one I have thought about.

CP guidelines:

9. Do not post just to self-promote. No advertising, no posting of affiliate links, and no posting personal links to games where generating traffic is involved in winning. If you want to pay to advertise a business or site, contact Bingo. Putting a link to your site in your sig is ok. If in doubt, ask first.

I decided to limit mentions of my podcast to special occasions, adding a link to my sig. For one reason, I'm sure many posters found it annoying if I posted every week, and secondly, it may infringe the above-noted guideline.

In your case, you make many other useful contributions to the site. Others only post to self-promote, and I think that is not cool.

Perhaps the mods can weigh in.

If only there was some middle ground between: go up the boards every time to a winger standing still, and stretch pass

I voted sad on Scorpion's article. Painful reminder of all the playoff failures in Calgary.

Typically our position on this has been that if you are doing it in the context of a discussion (like this) then no worries.
If you are starting a new thread to promote an article that's probably less cool.
Keeping in mind that FlamesNation certainly views themselves as a competitor and alternative to Calgarypuck.

Glad you enjoyed it... they have to break the streak sometime, right? Right???

My bad, maybe I'm just being oversensitive. It's been a weird couple of weeks. But re: self-promotion, I asked the mods before I posted my podcast here for the first time, and I was largely given a green light to post my content as I see fit. Don't mean to siphon away clicks at all. Just trying to add to the discussion.

This. When people were saying that I wondered if I imagined those stretches that kept getting picked off.

I haven't seen Gaudreau outwork the Stars to put his teammates into good situations in the same way that Monahan has, even if that has been painfully subpar as well. Gaudreau's "good rushes" that have been talked about during the games usually consist of him skating through the neutral zone nicely, but ultimately turning it over.

I flat out said Monahan has been a disappointment, I'm just more willing to forgive a player that seems to be doing a lot of the small things right at both ends of the ice compared to someone who hasn't really been able to do much right at either end of the ice 5v5. Gaudreau had the one nice pass to set Monahan up in Game 4, and Monahan returned the favour with that 2 on 1 play as well as the one-timer from the slot in OT. Are there some prime examples of Gaudreau creating offense you can recall from these games? I'll pull them.

Either way, my point was that I don't think the 2 players work as a pairing in the playoffs based on the games we've seen. Gaudreau isn't the same player in tight checking playoff hockey, so he can't get the puck to Monahan consistently the same way, and Monahan isn't the right type of centre for Gaudreau in the playoffs either obviously.
I think Monahan has certainly stepped up his defensive and physical game in these playoffs.

He can't be who he isn't though ... so when a scrum happens he just stands there with his hands at his sides and his hair covering his face. It isn't a good look and it has to result in the opposition knowing they can run over him.

The offence on the line has always come from Gaudreau, but the league has the book on him now so that's been corked, perhaps for good. He needs a guy that can create space for him now, which isn't Monahan.

Lindholm? Still wonder if he's hurt. He was such a complete player but just doesn't seem to have the same impact in the playoffs (though if either of his looks last game go in it could be a different conversation).

I don't think there's any question that both Lindholm and Bennett are hurt, and perhaps considerably.

edit: with lindholm I think it might be a groin or shoulder ailment, with Bennett I think it's definitely something in his arms or back.

What's taking so long for the next day schedule to be announced, they gotta see who's eliminated today?

Real bush league if you ask me. Could be a game in less than 24 hrs for all we know.

We have some excellent flames-centric content producers on this board. They are, rightly, allowed, to post about their content, especially if it adds to or generates a discussion. Most of us would not come across their content if not for the board.

I barely go to other sources for most flames related content, except for calgarypuck. Treat it as a one stop shop. Let’s not chase them away, belittle or insult them.

EDIT: Obviously disagreement on actual content is different.

The times for Game 6 of #Flames/Stars and Capitals/Islanders on Thursday are dependent on if Bruins/Hurricanes needs another game. Times will be announced once that game is complete.
