Are you upgrading? If so, what did this do to your contract?
Ideally I would like to upgrade my phone, pay the upgrade fee and continue with my current contract keeping my 6GB a month that would turn into LTE.

I am upgrading from a 4. The contract will just start at 3 years again and I'll pay a little more than the base price because I have about 8 months left on my contract.

Important info for Bell customers:
If you have ever used your current Bell phone in Manitoba, you need to call Bell before going into the store to pre-order the iPhone 5. There is a feature called "allow Manitoba roaming" that needs to be removed before you can upgrade.
Of course I was concerned- I still visit Manitoba once or twice a year. I did some reading online and had the Bell CSR on the phone also explain it to me. This is a leftover from when Bell used Rogers towers to provide coverage in Manitoba. They now use the same network as Telus, so this is not needed any longer. The one thing I am not sure of though is Western Manitoba. I was still getting 2G in July; and that may have been on Rogers' system. (looking at the Bell coverage map.)
I am really only concerned about Winnipeg and Grand Beach; so I felt OK to remove it.

So I would be in the same boat as you. So your contract stayed the same apart from the length? Did you keep your 6gb and will it be LTE?

While I agree, you have to admit the sheer number of pro-Andriod folks in an Apple thread bashing Apple and those who buy vs. Apple in an Android thread.
For example, When the S3 launched, how many home brew pictures making fun of the S3 were there? Or pro Apple folk calling the S3 a plastic piece of garbage?
If you love Apple fine, I am cool with that. Why the need to make fun of someone who wants high end hardware/software that works together very easily? If it is what they want fine, live with it.
It's the need of pro-Android fans to incesently come into every thread and make fun of these people that is actually anoying. How about this conversation, is it any better?

Yup. My contract stays the same with the 6gb. LTE is accessed because of the SIM card in the iPhone 5 so I don't believe you're charged extra for it.

Blah, I want in on the first batch (or before my 3GS dies preferably) but Rogers probably won't deliver for 2 weeks either and I don't want to line up at the Apple Store on the 21st. Should I just hope that line dies fast in the days following? The store is close to me, but I don't have a whole day to spend there.
I have Rogers' 6Gb plan that they were offering this summer, and apparently it'll switch over to LTE automatically(?) once I have an iPhone 5 and its nanoSIM... I think.

Will your 3GS die in 2 weeks? It's not that long to wait.
You might find some places that have them in stock without lining up. Some of the smaller kiosks have them but you have to get lucky.

My 3GS feels like it's rapidly deteriorating. =P I'm sure it'll survive, but I'll feel better the sooner I get a 5.
Sometimes people line up at those too. I used to work near a Fido kiosk and when the 4 came out people lined up every day for like a month. I'm going to end up checking whatever Rogers booths I find on the way, I just hope they don't rip you off like the Telus dude upthread.
And Rogers.com is being super slow....
Also, I've dropped my 3GS a ton (no screen protector, they bug me) and while it's awfully slow these days, I've never cracked the screen or the back. I've seen lots of cracked iPhones though...

I've been surviving with my 3GS as well, and mine was running extremely slow for a while. I found that turning off a bunch of the iCloud services sped it up a bit, especially getting rid of photostream. Maybe give that a shot? My 3GS is definitely slow still, but not nearly as bad.

Yeah, I'm in the crowd that's upgrading because I've got a 3GS that's on its last legs. I've been putting off getting repairs to a badly-cracked case because I've been holding out for the 5. If I hold it the wrong way then it'll turn off or restart. Honestly I didn't take good care of it, and it was a few drops on concrete that finally busted it.
This time around, I'm going to get one of these cases (once they release a iphone 5 model):

I don't understand why more people aren't this reasonable... Honda doesn't completely re-design the Accord every year. They make last year's Accord better. And not everyone feels the need to rush out and buy the new Accord when it launches.
If you're due for an upgrade, this is precisely what you'll receive. A significant one. If you're not, wait. Something will come out next year. Promise.

Did anyone pre-order with Telus? I did this morning for my wife, who's rocking the 3gs, and my credit card got charged but I didn't get the confirmation email at all today, so I'm not sure what exactly is going on now.
If you pre-ordered with Telus, did you get the confirmation email?
