I just did the same thing, only thru Telus... after spending the entire day contemplating to stay with Apple or give the Sammy a shot.

iPhone wins for me because I think it's prettier. Just like women, I only care about what's on the outside.

I'm curious to see how Verizon's data plans affect sales. This is the first major phone released since they implemented the "lose unlimited data when you upgrade" plan. Older iPhone with unlimited data vs newer iPhone with 2GB cap for the same price, seems a lot of people would pick to keep unlimited.

I got to say Apple is proving the evil-ness with this new connector and expensive accessories vs going with micro usb. I got to laugh at the adapter that doesn't pass audio or video either. What the heck is the point of spending $30 on something that lets you charge with your old charger???

The addition of LTE really is a big deal. I'm sure that speeds are down somewhat now that tons of people are on it, but in May of 2011 I was getting like 30 down and 20 upload in the Chicago area. That's faster than my home internet connection.

I really think the 4S cost them quite a bit of sales by not having LTE, at least in the US. I mean, I live in Davenport, Iowa, in the "Quad Cities." I would bet that if the Flames hadn't temporarily put their farm team here, NONE of the people on this board would have even heard of this place. Yet I've had LTE for over a year. Its not like its only in the big cities or anything. So people that bought a 4S last fall have to go 2 years until their upgrade when they could have LTE, without it.

I kind of wonder if a similar situation is going to come up with NFC at some point, where Apple is a late adopter in order to come in when its already a proven technology.

I'm not sure how people can say Samsung accessory prices are any different. Their dock stand was $20 more than the iPhone one.

Samsung is a little annoying with their mhl implementation, but at least they use a standard micro usb input. Other android phones have hdmi out cables, you can buy from anyone for less than 5 dollars and use with tablets or other devices. It would cost you $39 for an apple digital out adapter that Apple forces you to buy from them. And now those adapters will not work on the newer iphone. That's just one example.

lol. I dunno if "Fandroids" even exist. Most of the hate towards Apple happens, not because of a love of another product, but because of the major love and fanaticism of Apple fans towards their products. The almost cult like approach to all things Apple. It's created an adverse effect.

Got up early to reserver an iphone5 with fido, but apparently they are only carrying the 16gb version this time around... so if anyone was thinking of going Fido, keep that in mind!

Now I need to switch carriers, hmmm, who to go with? Can't say I had any real issues with Fido.

edit: I guess its just for the presale that fido will only have the 16gb one. Said they'll be selling all models on the 21st.

Absolutely, but I post based on my opinion, not falsehoods about accessory prices.

The hilarious part of this entire phone warz thing is that the fandroids spend countless hours trying to convince iPhone users that Android is better, and when said iPhoney goes to check out these amazing phones their response is usually "It looks the same on the screen but the phone feels cheap."

This sorta sums up people on the Internet in general right now...

Hmmm so the Apple rollouts for their products have been getting better and better every year - timing, volume, and number of countries in each wave. Sounds like they got enough preorders in the first hour or so to knock back shipping about a week already. That's their website though - I think carriers are still advertising delivery on the 21st.

Looks like interest and sales are fairly robust. Or maybe they indeed are having supply problems as Bertuzzied is banking on.

I've been laughing and mocking Apple since this monstrosity came out in the late 90's.
Being heavily involved in tech back in late 90's - late 2000's; the extreme prices, ugly look, zero games and not being able to swap parts and tweak items on the inside were the icing on the cake.

Spoke with a Rogers rep and they told me that if you preordered through their website today you would be guaranteed a phone. It's the only way to pre-order through Rogers so don't bother calling them. The site was slow as hell but I finally got through.
