I think its just the general decline of Sports Journalism thats to be blamed here.
Friedman knows who he has to pander to and he does it, but also it seems like all of these Hockey beat reporters have really tight leashes on them or they lose access to teams and players...they have to walk a really fine line.
That being said, most of what these guys 'report' is basically just being hand-puppets and mouthpieces for interested parties.
They're not working for the 'Royal Us' anymore.
They will only tell us what their Masters have told them to tell us. At which point what use are they?
Its the same as Movie Critics who are bought and paid for by Movie Studios...their opinions are now worthless.

Sports departments across all mediums have been gutted, resulting in less competition. The big dogs at the top of the food chain have less to worry about and become complacent. I don't think it's just hockey.

Any time I think I couldn't hate the Oilers more than I do
They find new ways.

Perhaps if they hadn't focused so much on "breaking a team up" they wouldn't have got swept the next round, wasting another year of mcdavid's prime.

My browser homepage's algorithm gives me a new drop dead stupid Oilers trade proposal article every day now.
It's become like my newspaper comic, or "funnies" section.
They just get more audacious by the day too. I don't think I've seen a single realistic trade.
They think they can dump Campbell and Yamamoto (2 problems) with a pick for Karlsson.
The bloggers up there don't have two brain cells to rub together.

Have the Elks ever won a home game? I just assumed they were the Eskimos the last time they won one.

That's correct. Their last home win was in October 2019, before the name change.
Oddly, they have 7 road wins since becoming the Elks -- one in every CFL city except Winnipeg (although, they did win a preseason game in Winnipeg last season).

No team in the history of the CFL has ever lost 19 consecutive home games. Great job, Edmonton!

Well, see, that is just not true. In fact, only several posts above yours, it is stated that, in fact, a team from a town called no-goodsville has in fact lost 19 consecutive home games. It is one of the many, many reasons that UNESCO has, in fact, designated that E=NG.

in true Edmonton form, they will hang on to the Warren Moon era to show what a juggernaut they used to be well before any of their players were born.

Following in Gretzky's footsteps. Big wedding next summer when he's 27, followed by a trade to the Kings.

That Paul goof from Twitter said he wonders if they'll get married at some church in Edmonton. It didn't take long for someone to tell him they're pretty sure the wedding will be in Ontario where they're from.
