From Iginla in any playoff series from 2004 to 2012 getting upset to Giordano in regular season games, Tkachuk and Gudbranson and who knows who else through the Covid Dallas loss, the Colorado loss and then the Oilers series...no one knows who reacted and how and in what manner, except the guys in the room, but there are always emotional outbursts.

My guess is there'd be different views of certain players on the Flames and players around the league if more of these sorts of raw dressing room emotional reactions got leaked out for public viewing and analysis.
This doesn't look like a camera just happened to catch him 'being a leader', it looks very manufactured. It's been cut and edited.

It also isn't the first video attempting to show him as a leader, there have been several attempts. It just feels like there is a conscious plot to portray him in a certain light. It all just feels weird, and only increases the perceived awkwardness.

When I think of a leader - I’ll say it again - it’s not a guy yelling out into the room and everybody else going about their business. It’s a guy who commands respect. When he speaks, people listen

It’s not the guy with the most talent telling everyone else they’re not good enough

Hyman even basically said it was nothing new to them

I saw him the last 15 seconds of game 7 in front of the net while his teammates were in the corner trying to get the puck the Panthers were eating. “Digging in” if you will . If they were successful digging in, and getting him the puck, he was ready to be the hero

When I think of a leader, I don’t remember who it was, but it was one of Crosby’s wingers, talking about how awesome he was to play with . He said Crosby told him, about zone entries, paraphrasing “enter the zone with speed, I’ll make sure you’re not offside”.

Crosby is all about making the players around him better. And he’s got a few cups to show for it

It looks like they took that photo after game 7. I have never seen so much sadness in ones eyes.

100%.

He comes across as anything but a leader to me, which is why I think there are those who try very hard to portray him as one.

Remember the Golden Goal? Iginla wasn't camped in front of the net waiting for a pass, he went into the corner, got the puck to Crosby and took a hit and I don't hink even saw the goal scored.

So do leaders actually lead, or stand around waiting for others to do the work so they can touch the puck last and get all the glory? We all know the answer, but Edmonton doesn't.

Exactly this! Anyone can yell at his teammates, doesn’t make him a leader. Is anyone actually listening?

This was also game 2 by all accounts. Game 3 after 2 periods….the Oilers down 4-1 and McDavid a -1 and 0 pts. Really followed up that tantrum by leading by example. Gets 2 assists in the 3rd to make the game close and improve his stat line. Top 2 stars of the game go to the Panthers, 3rd star is Broberg, now a St Louis Blue.

He looks pretty "energized" to me.

Yeah just saw this clip a bunch yesterday so I figured CP would be on it. Some guys when they get emotional, get angry and yell they are truly motivational. I'm sure we've all had those bosses, coaches etc. Other guys, like Doughty, just sound like whiny toddlers. I know McPoints can't help what he sounds like, but he sounds like a cringey screaming child. If I was a player in the room that would not motivate me at all.

2nd prize is a trip to Edmonton to meet pissy and Mavi.

3rd prize is tenderness, Mavi, and pissy.

BodyArmor is more of an electrolyte drink, like Gatorade, than an energy drink, like Monster.

McDavid doesn't exactly look well hydrated or youthful in that picture, but whatever.

He looks like he just came off a bender, so maybe he needs to be re-hydrated.

He looks like he's about to burst into tears.

Sorry what?

Does Gatorade have caffeine?

I'd suggest Gatorade is an electrolyte drink

I love how he’s all “dig in” when his trophy case is full of individual accolades and zero team awards. He has no idea what it feels like to lead a team to success.

Me and my friends always joke that Crosby is the best 4th line #1 C in NHL history. That's what makes him so good, he goes into the corners.

Upon winning this contest, the winner will already have won more than McDavid has.
