I have been to a couple of places like this and I think this is the best one.

live right across the road from this place and hadn't tried it out til i had the random inkling today, got to say there's a lot of coffee shops down here, but I was impressed big time. Gonna definately load up on 5 of em and definately reccommend it to anyone who usually gets coffee in the area.

Sometimes it's actually cheaper to offer these deals vs. advertising.

I live a block away too. I don't normally go there too often. I usually go to Bumpy's or Beano. I love this area for coffee. In addition to these three there is also: Chiasso (which is okay), Good Earth (which I like when I am in the mood for a toasted seed roll), Starbucks and Waves (which I haven't tried).

I was there last Saturday for lunch and it was packed. They ran out of the lunch special, so they obviously had enough business for that. I didn't even buy coffee or dessert since the line up was longer than I felt like waiting. So, I think they are doing okay.
This might be one of the few places that actually benefits from a coupon like this. Before the previous coupon I had only been there once and had a bad coffee. It was probably just a bad barista, but I really had no reason to try them again given the quality of their competition. But now that I have been there a few more times, I think they have the best food of all the coffee shops in the area (but the portions are a bit small).

But one of the groups that I generally gave poorer service to was coupon users. As a group they tip poorer than non coupon users.
Now I have bought a bunch of the vouchers and have never had poor service as a result but I can see where servers would make the decision to give better service to other groups when a night gets very busy.
I also think that many people in general have unreasonable expectations as to the service they get on a busy night in a restaurant and then would blame the coupon if they didn't get the service that they expected.
|
I've usually used my voucher's on weeknights to avoid going when its really busy. Usually I judge service standards by whether I get at least one offer of another drink during my meal. It doesn't seem unreasonable to me that a server would come by once in 45 minutes in a half empty restaurant.
I definitely think prioritizing service is a chicken and an egg problem. I usually tip 20%, and I don't change my habits when I'm using a voucher( 20% of total bill) which I think is decent. On the other hand, when I've had terrible service, I've tipped less, thus confirming to the server that voucher users are cheap. (Or maybe they just don't like crappy service...)

Just got this email from red flag deals. They have a 3 month Platinum membership for $25 to GameAccess.ca.
I am already a member to Game Access and I love it, little upset I can't use this because of that but oh well. I think it saves me money as I don't have to buy games any more and they have a great selection. The only thing I would recommend is get the 2 disk deal as it takes about 2 weeks to send one in and get a new one back.

I used one of my groupons on the weekend at Cafe Crema in Bridlewood and I asked them how their promotion went. She said it was fantastic and they were shocked at how many people bought in. Claims it has been great for business as many people from the community checked it out who otherwise wouldn't have. Just wanted to share as there have been a few "groupon killed my business" stories floating around.

Just used my Groupon for Loungeburger last night.
Had to make a reservation but the restaurant was pretty quiet. Service and food was amazing.

According to here: http://www.dealfind.com/discuss.php?DiscussionID=1423
You can use the voucher for all you can eat and it looks like the deal is only valid during lunch: M onday to Thursday 11:30am-2:30pm; and Friday to Sunday 11:30am-4:00pm.

Sort of ties in with the thought of the thread.
We're doing pre-orders on our digital copies of our 2011 NHL Entry Draft for the month of March. Cost is currently $12.99 and after our pre-sale period will jump to $18.99 for a savings of over 30%. I know quite a few CPers ordered some of our stuff in the past so I figured I would pass it on here.
Future Considerations: Pre-Purchase your 2011 NHL Entry Draft Guide in March for $12.99 (Save 30%)
