Going into the Olympics, Canada's perceived weakness by some vs the US was goaltending and defense (except for Makar).
Binnington is proving us wrong so far (I was a big doubter of his) but our D needs to tighten up (except for Makar lol). That D won't cut it against a team like the US.
And we need that forward depth like we saw today- Marner, Suzuki etc. Just like the Oilers, teams are going to double up coverage on McDavid.

The slo mo of that goal is wild. Just, disgusting… every move he made…
Pulls it from 73, then from 64 with a quick tap back to keep it out of reach of 73, toe drag from 51, into stick block on 64, then swims the stick check by 51, and snipes it backhand…

Canada's second best line through the tournament has been Marner-Crosby-Stone. When Crosby got injured, and with McKinnon nursing something, it messed everything up.

the comparisons to Gretzky in 81 are there for sure- although that ended poorly for Canada, 99 did lead the tourney in scoring whilst paired with 2 former first overall pick Hall of Famers about a decade older than him (Lafleur, Perreault). Perreault was having the tournament of his life until he got injured
can we give an honourable mention to Iggy in 02 ?

There was an interview he did a few years ago where he said the bucket list item for his career was getting to host the panel for Canada at the Qatar World Cup.
Yeah, he's fine with his decision

I wonder if Canada would have protested if Czechia won 3-2
Very clearly 6 men on the ice for Czechia on the 3-2 goal which is likely why Canada struggled to know who to pick up on the back check.

I'm guessing Sweden. Something about the U. S team doesn't sit right with me this year.

Saros with a bad giveaway on Switzerland's first goal. What is going on with Finland this year? They haven't been great.

I feel like when the game is not tight Binnington is not a good goalie. Big sloppy rebounds and he comes way too far out of his crease when he challenges shooters and exposes himself to tap ins. But when the game is on the line the guy has ice in his veins and just dials it in, exactly what you need in moments like that.

Not having Barkov is a major major major thing. Plus I think they're down a couple other big time guys for them as well with injuries.
