Juuso Valimaki is even less productive than these two with 2 points in 298:43 minutes.

But "He's been better" is all you hear even though it's not rooted in anything actual. If that's not size bias I'm not sure what is.

This goes back to last year where Andersson was on PP1 in Stockton and Kylington was not - even though Kylington outproduced Andersson 5v5.
The reason why what Valimaki did is more impressive to some people is because he’s both younger than Kylington and Andersson and had yet to play a single pro game. He showed an extremely mature and high upside game for being a rookie pro. I think this is the major factor in why your valuation of him is diff from others. Also I could see Valimaki playing #1 PK in his career. He’s the guy most likely to achieve top pairing or #1 status as he can play in all situations. Big minutes, PK, PP.

This isn’t to slam Rasmus or Kylington. I think all 3 have huge upside and should all be kept. I think all 3 have top 4 potential and all 3 have an outside shot of top pairing potential. I just think Valimaki is the most well rounded of the bunch, the most likely and the safest bet to achieve top pairing status. Is his slight size advantage playing into my thinking? Only minorly. I think his offence is underrated because he hasn’t been used yet in that role. I think he’s as offensive as Andersson and Kylington in the long term.

3rd (Conditional to increase on Calgary Winning in playoffs, becomes first with 2 rounds won)
2nd (Conditional on Stone re-signing becomes first)
Kylington
Dube
Frolik (Cap & gives Ott a warm body under contract next season getting them to the floor)
Kylington has played the right side well in the past from what I've heard. I think him and Valimaki would be the pairing next year if the Brodie Kreider rumors were true and they are ready to move him.

Even though he'll be vulnerable in expansion I feel like Kylington will be worth a huge haul if he plays a whole year next and they will get the stone picks back. Teams draft dmen in the 10-15th pick range that fare worse then him in The AHL and never make the show let alone show his offensive skill in this era where that is huge.

I think I they should keep him and sacrifice picks instead if they can.

Given how Andersson and Kylington are playing - no way! Valimaki + a first, maybe. I'm still want Tre to get a couple of cheap big guys that's serviceable for 3rd and 4th lines!

Not saying I am against including him but when u look at the bar set by the Duchene trade kylington is worth one of those firsts not on par with a B grade prospect miles from the NHL who might never play an NHL game.

If he's in the deal he should be the centrepiece.
Kylington is also 4th on depth chart for LD, if he doesn't go now I think he's gone at the draft.

Is it a fake tweet from Bob McKenzie?

Hearing 2019 1st, Frolik, Oliver Klyington, and a conditional 2020 2nd round pick for Stone.

I didn't look too hard but here is what Jets fans are thinking:

Jets trade = 2019 1st, Roslovic, 2020 2nd: conditional (2020 1st if Jet's win the Stanley Cup finals or Mark Stone signs with the Jets.), N. Petan (What the heck...we don't need him)

Sens trade = M. Stone

If it’s not from @TSNBobMckenzie it’s a fake account.

Was Stone ever actually given permission to talk with Calgary? Could they sit down and meet face to face since there in Ottawa. (Assuming the agent was present)

I think you're undervaluing Kylington. They're both excellent.

Let's say the Flames trade Kylington now and then Brodie in the off-season to re-coup some picks. The Flames will still have.

1. Mark Giordano
2. Noah Hanifin
3. Travis Hamonic
4. Rasmus Andersson
5. Juusu Valimaki

That is still one of the better defensive groups in the league and all it needs is 2 solid veteran guys signed for cheap to play #6 and #7.

Yeah he probably will be but they could also trade him next summer... Lots of time. If they move Brodie this summer and he gets a whole season under his belt and puts up 20-30 pts he'll bring back a 1st +.

Or the flames could protect their d core by sending other assets to Seattle.

I'm fine with him being dealt sooner but he's not a throw in on top of two 1sts like the average prospects the BJs dealt. He's a guy who has proven he can play an NHL shift on a winning team and produce offense from the blue line with limited minutes. Really valuable asset. If he goes for me that should be the big give by the flames.
