I wonder if once Keane realized that he was never going to get the United job it was time to go all out

I read the book this afternoon. The Roy Keane chapter was the only good bit. It is worth reading a bit more about this particular subject before reading Ferguson's book as he is not allowed to discuss it under the terms of a legal settlement.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_of_Gibraltar_(horse)

He also talks a lot of smack about Owen Hargreaves. Eat it, Calgary!

Great interview here. He gets a real grilling from Jon Snow, who accuses him of being a control freak.

Well ... duh! Of course he is. That's why he's so successful. Ruthless.

I think it was just a matter of Keane declining and as he lost his imposing presence on the pitch he over compensated for it off the pitch.

Strange that he would talk about Loyalty when the beginning of the end for him was him ridiculing team mates to the media (albeit MUTV).

I loved Keane as a player and captain, but he appears to have issues.

I'll get it for Xmas, there is a lot more to it than Keane. I hear TFSW gets a special mention.

Fergie with a lesson in pissing off scousers

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/foo...op-player.html

Quote:
Ferguson says in his autobiography that the Liverpool and England captain “was not a top top player”.
He also noted that, when Paul Scholes and Roy Keane were playing together for Manchester United against Liverpool, Gerrard “seldom had a kick”.
Ferguson reaches a similar conclusion on Frank Lampard, saying that he did not consider him to be “an elite international footballer” and that it was “absolute nonsense” for Gerrard or Lampard to be considered superior to Scholes.

Think he's been giving that lesson for the past 27 years.

On Nemanja Vidic

On fears Serbian defender Nemanja Vidic would be called up to the army:

"Vidic was a dour, uncompromising sod...in 2009 he came to me to say he might be getting called up.

"'What do you mean, called up?' I said, alarmed.

"'Kosovo. I am going,' he said. 'It's my duty.'

"He had the eyes for it."

Ferguson's most recent tell-all might say more about him as a person than the many people he attempts to skewer.

Fixed. Summary: Gerrard is not a top top player, but somehow being less than that had the ability to dominate a game on his own. Also, I wanted to buy him but he's not a top top player. Also, Carrick is a better player, and was just short Gerrard's bravado...

He's simply saying Gerrard couldn't lace Scholes and Keane's boots. Which he couldn't. He was at a level below. Which he was.

Brendan showing his inexperience with quite the over-reaction that Keegan would have been proud of, whereas wily old Jose and Wenger simply don't get sucked in. Lesson to be learned there.

So the lesson is to be quiet? I'm guessing Ferguson isn't teaching that class.

Rodgers didn't say anything wrong. He called Gerrard a top player without being insulting to anyone, and stuck up for Henderson. Nothing wrong with that.

The lesson is .... don't take the bait. Fergie went fishing and hooked an inexperienced fish.

Gerrard is a top player. No-one's saying he's a bad player just not a top top player.

And as for Henderson? Holy over-reaction. Ferguson should apologise? LOL. For what? A reaction of Keegan proportions.

It's not like Rodgers called a press conference to discuss this. He was asked about these things. The options are

1. No comment - Which would certainly then prompt the press to imply that he was either agreeing, or shaken by it
2. Saying what's on all of our minds: That Ferguson is just a trolling old drunk turd and his bile on paper has no more worth than it is when he spouts it verbally.
3. Doing what he did, which is addressing these things properly.

I'm almost certain that if Rodgers had chosen option #1, you (and many a Manc fan on other forums) would be here going on about how Ferguson must be right, because Rodgers refused to comment on it. I'm certain if he did #2, you would get the exact same reaction from MUFC fans as in the wake of the famous "facts" talk by Rafa (which, unlike what Mr. Ferguson said in his book, was actually accurate). Rodgers handled it well.

Also, who said anything about Scholes and Keane (even though I don't agree with you on that either)? Ferguson was saying that Carrick is as good or better. Nobody outside of MUFC fans and those who really don't like Liverpool would agree. Seeing as how Ferguson fits into both categories...

And then go behind.

Moyes is going to #### it all up for everybody by doing it too bad.

I'm not sure Kagawa is built to suceed in the EPL.

Doesn't have the pace to play out wide, and isn't physically strong enough to play in the middle 2 of midfield for Man U.

Januzaj and Chicarito brought the pace and movement they were missing. Much too slow and static early on.

That was intentional from Walters, threw his shoulder into De Gea and you could really see it on the replay.
