I don't know about GHOs, but Barn Owls are very good at taking out vermin and they take readily to nest boxes. Barn Owls also seem to like nesting in stacks of baled hay, which can be a real problem when someone shows up and trucks the hay away. Our local Audubon usually ends up with several clutches of chicks every year when the hay gets to its destination.
I seem to remember that GHOs nest in other raptors' abandoned nests. So if you've got hawks, the owls may take over when the hawks move on.
