The one in '07 was the best! It was nice and sunny out and BSD was still held on the lawn outside mac hall. Now there's a library there...

Does anyone know what the ticket prices are for beer gardens? Also is there a way you can trick the system by being able to bring a non uofc student? Like what I think how it works is that you get a wristband, so can another student get the wristband and give it to someone not in uofc? Would that work?
Thanks

No chance.
To get the wristband you need to show your ID and Student ID. They scan your drivers license, and put the wristband on you right there. You only get one.
When you arrive on Friday, you have to have your ID with you to get in.

At least the weather will be good this year. I remember BSD two years ago, it was -20 and we had an EPIC blizzard. They moved the beer gardens to a ballroom on the third floor of Mac Hall. Still a good time though.

So usually all of the fun is at the beer gardens or is it all throughout the campus?
I can imagine mac hall but what about other areas?

Beer gardens have free entry. Canadian is 4.25 a can, Smirnoff Ice is 5.25 a bottle. That's it for alcohol.
If you go and get a wrist band now, you could try and cut it off, then go to the line the next day and say you lost it. Then put a little piece of tape on the cut one and you have two bands. Can't remember if they check just gov't id or student and gov't both though.

A remember BSD '04 when two campus security guards were consoling a girl who was puking into a garbage pail in Murray Fraser Hall. This was at 9:30am.

Actually I think he might have a chance. In 2008, first year for no guests, when it was held in Mac Hall I managed to get in without an issue and I went to Mount Royal. Got a wrist band off a friend who couldn't make it, (used a lighter and a knife to pop it off) and they only asked for Gov't ID at the gate. I was stoked.

Yeah, I liked it in the parking lot.
Lots more space so there wasn't a lineup. Made it very easy to walk out of the beer gardens, go to a friend's locker and shotgun beers. Just sayin', wouldn't know anything about people that get up to those kinda shenanigans.
And to the MRU dude - they only check government ID at the gate, somebody was asking what ID they checked at the beer gardens and the chick told him he only needed his driver's license. So if you can get your wrist into a wristband you're golden!

I've never gone inside the beer gardens and always had a blast. Usually sit on Prairie Chicken Hill with a few water bottles of booze and that has always been more fun than cramming into the beer gardens and waiting in line.

It's not Fort Knox, it's definitely possible to get into the Beer Gardens without having any form of ID. Be creative.

You must have had a really epic time... haha the beer gardens was in the basement not on the third floor. Unless there was also one upstairs. Now I feel like I missed out on something...

Don't cut it if it's one of those plastic ones they've used in the past. You can pop the clasp on those pretty easily.
You could also keep an eye on the blackmarket, there's always somebody out there who husteld a dozen wristbands off some kid in the student union who desperately wants to hang with the cool kids.

You didnt miss to much, the ballroom on the third floor was a snoozefest. It was where they put the overflow once the basement was full. The den was pretty fun that day though.

Heard two friends that as long as you have your student ID from the past (IE Alumni) you can get a wristband. Seem like they would check the year sticker on the back, but apparently they got one each no problem, and I think they haven't been at UofC for 2+ years.
Edit: Another friend couldn't get his and he's only 1 year out of school. Maybe cuz the first 2 were girls and the last was a guy?

Hmmmm back when I was a student we just got the University students who weren't going to get the wristbands, then cut them off and glue them back onto the wrist of our buddies....
