You clearly have never lived in another city. In Ottawa, my power went out weekly. In other countries, my power went out daily.

God, this is such a stupid question, but why do you turn off the stuff?

I'm not really knowledgeable, but is their some sort of permanent damage or ramifications by leaving it on and the power potentially dying?

I get that PC may lose whatever data your working on if you dont save, but what else?

Most appliances are set to just restart when there is an outage, if they are constantly starting up and shutting down there is a chance you can blow your PSU (small chance but still a chance).
On DLP Tv's there is a big chance you can actually burn out your bulb from power cycles.

I have had a few computers go on me from power cycles and ever since that day I have decided to take the safe route. You never really know if your having a outage or a spike.

Outage = not so bad
Spike = finding out MacTavish is your teams new coach

Flickering lights here. And I just bought rollerblades at lunch. It was quite nice out.

Ugh. I hate winter. And I hate the amount of auto insurance claims that will inevitably happen in the coming days.

Ottawa's power is fine; Halifax's on the otherhand.....I think it goes out every couple of hours.

How many users dropped off when the storm hit?

I love battery back-up!

Truth be told, if you wanted to, you could hook up any deep cycle 12V and have a crazy long run time. Hmm....

I just had a tenant call me and tell me their furnace wasn't working. I asked if they had power and she told me no.

Is there any hope for humanity?
