I can't wait to run this on my work pc. I think I may beat your new low Phaneuf3.

2156 on my 5 year old dell desktop.

Alot better than I thought it would be.

Wow, looking at the summary it looks like one of my core pooped out (this is a xps gen2, one of the first dual core desktops), as it is only showing one core.

That sucks.

Or more likely it's not a true dual core processor, but one of the hyperthreading processors. So it shows 2 cores in Windows but they aren't really two cores, just shows up that way in Windows so Windows throws 2 threads at it.

Nope it's a Pentium D Smithfield, should be 2 90 nm Prescott cores.

Here is my work PC.

Now I'll have to see how my 2 and half year old home PC stacks up against it.

Hm yeah, that's weird then. Could it somehow be a driver issue (I can't see how)? I just would think it unlikely that a processor would fail in just such a way as to disable one processor but leave the other functional.. No doubt they put in a feature to disable one of the cores if they wanted to (burn out a junction), but if something failed inside one of the cores I doubt it would detect that and automatically switch to a single core.

But maybe. Weird.

maybe get a CPU-Z screenshot and see what that says regarding number of cores.

Actually - the easiest way is to press CTRL-ALT-DEL and the performance tab.

Yeah, looks like it is showing only one core under the performances in Task manager. About 6 months ago I noticed a huge drop down in performance, I bet that is when I lost the first core.

Well you know what that means! New computer!!!

Looks like someone stole one of my cores too??? Although I do show two in the performance tab??? Anyone have any other ideas about what is going on? 2448 was my score though.

Wow, so many people are losing their cores like extension cords on their porches. That's a crazy coincidence of something that I didn't know was possible and have never seen before. Maybe this program is killing your cores!

Is it a linear scale? I really have no idea what the numbers supposed to mean, I guess higher number faster computer.

It is a liner scale, but keep in mind that it is testing only Integer and Floating Point performance on the CPU.. basically how fast the processor can add 1+1 and 1.0+1.0.

The Ditch posted a Mac with two quad core Xeon server class processors, so yeah it's going to crush everything else since it simply takes each processor score and adds it up (since two processors can add 1+1 twice as often per unit time).

For most uses there's diminishing returns on increasing the # of processors, i.e. in every day use you really wouldn't see the difference between a dual core and a quad core of otherwise similar specs.

My new RAM finally came in today! It made a pretty big difference... Although I wonder how much of that is from the speed increase vs just eliminating the bottleneck from having a 1333 bus and only 1066 RAM.

Im confused with this

I got an alienware m17x R2 4334 with dual 4870's 6 gig ram SSD and i7.

Im not overly convinced with how well these results are as using other benchmarking software I score in the top 4%

What was your Geekbench score, and which other benchmarks do you run? Remember, this one is all about processor, RAM, bus, etc. It doesn't test your disks or video card(s).

Well here is my home PC.

Before I installed the RAM I bought from Megatron.

And after I installed the RAM.

According to this it doesn't make much of difference apparently. Am I missing cores as well?

They've probably got messed up data in their database wrong for # of cores, too many people "missing" cores.

Yeah even my report says only two cores, and I know for a fact that all four work fine.
