Absolutely. It was disappointing that the EA (Authentication?) Servers took a couple big dumps last night, but overall, a great experience. Here are some thoughts (based on the PC experience):
1. The graphics are insane. The demo was apparently 'locked' on Medium, even if you kicked the sliders up to High. Last night, I turned the sliders all the way up.....WOW.
2. The sound is also terrific. When there's a large explosion, the percussion and depth of sound is great. "Bullets zinging by", the screams for ammo/medic/spots are far beyond any FPS I've played before and really add to the experience.
3. The game seems really well balanced, especially for a new launch. Tanks/Bradleys/APCs are obviously tough, but even with a quality engineer fixing them, they don't last forever. Every individual kit is capable of taking the fight to the enemy with quality weapons.....no kit is way better/worse than another, they can all compete.
4. The (5) maps are all solid and very playable. Unlike most FPS games that wind up focusing on 2 or 3 "Favorite" maps, I think you'll see heavy rotation on all of these maps for quite a while.
5. The destructive environment adds really is as great as the hype. There were several times last night where my team/squad had to focus on clearing trees/fences/buildings in order to launch a quality assault, else, the enemy just sits in hiding and picks you off. It's amazing to me that the map you start out with is unrecognizable from the map you end with.
Couple of minor complaints:
1. I found it weird that no class started with their special tools. No Med Kit/Defibs for the medic, no Ammo pack for assault, no wrench for the engineer......they're all unlocks. I managed to get them all by the end of the night, but I thought it was silly playing a medic that couldn't heal/revive anyone.
2. While it was the best opening day launch I've seen in a while (possibly ever), the EA Servers left a bit to be desired. Even after entering some special unlock keys (pre-order perks), only 1 of the 5 items showed up. Meanwhile some people started with all the weapon/kit unlocks for every class for no apparent reason. I'm assuming it's a server-stat issue, but it was a little annoying to getting killed shot by a level-1 private using a level-bazillion gun.
Overall, if you can run the game - go buy it. It was/is fantastic!
