Buffalo, Nashville, and Columbus are not exactly huge cities either.

Well I hate to break it to you but as of today almost all of those teams all have an average home attendance more than what can even fit into MTS.
Also Raleigh has more people in it's metro area than Calgary and Winnipeg put together.

Appeal to emotion is also a logical fallacy.
People are so quick to criticize because the return the Jets campaign simply can't counter the following:
1. MTS would be the smallest arena in the NHL, by far.
2. The only arenas with as few luxury boxes as MTS are being replaced.
3. Winnipeg's metro population is some 40% less than the smallest market in the NHL (Edmonton)
4. Winnipeg's average per capita income is far lower than your Alberta and Ontario examples. ( Winnipeg gets slaughtered)
5. Manitobans are taxed at a far higher rate than Albertans or Ontarians.
6. Still wondering when the mythical white knights will declare themselves.
And these are just off the top of my head. Truthfully, I don't believe Bettman's statements on the size of MTS or on the viability of a couple teams in their current markets. It is possible, with enough money, that Winnipeg could earn a return to the NHL. I do, however, remain deeply skeptical of the long term ability of the city to sustain an NHL team. ESPECIALLY if it sucks as hard as the Jets did.

Speaking of which, Winnipeg will fail because Atlanta hasn't been a success with it's second chance either.
Invalid comparisons worth both ways, eh?

True, but it is a nice hole. Certainly much nicer than Edmonton if you go to the right areas.
And I'll say this: It is the best sports city in Canada, hands down. Problem is, it is a minor league city, as hard as that is on the local psyche. If Winnipeg was able to compare to Edmonton, Calgary or Ottawa economically and population wise, it would be a no brainer for an NHL team right now.

I can understand all the comtempt for the possibility that Winnipeg will one day return to the NHL. After all, who was the only team to lose to the Jets in the playoffs? I can't seem to remember, but I vividly recall the mystery team losing twice to the Jets. Can anyone refresh my memory?

Appeal to ridicule is your fifth or sixth logical fallacy so far, and remains as invalid as all the others.
Care to address the points I raised, rather than run from them like so many other Jetsowners I have come across?

Wow. Are you ever going to actually provide any proof to help your argument or are you just going to continue with these stupid one liners?

Haha, well if that's the route you're going to go, then I guess my answer would be: A team who is still playing in the same city.

I can debate with you about this subject until the cows come home. The fact is Winnipeg can and will support an NHL team if given another chance. It's sad that so many people in a fellow prairie city are so indifferent to NHL hockey returning to Manitoba.
We have to corporate support
We have the population base
We have a modern NHL-approved arena
We have the momentum on our side
We have a booming economy (well at least we weathered the recession well)
Winnipeggers are hungry for NHL hockey. It's not a matter of "if" we get a franchise it is a question of "when".

The author is an absolute moron. I couldn't get through the second paragraph, if you can't write an article without peppering it with personal attacks and blatant disregard of well known reality I'm not going to waste my time on your likely idiotic opinions.

Just because you say these things doesn't make them true. Support them with some actually statistics or articles.
All those things you have said are simply not true.

according to the Fraser Inst. among the top 500 corporations in Canada, Toronto has 35% of the corporate headquarters (1st), Calgary has just under 20% for second. Winnipeg has 3.4% for last among the cities in the study behind Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, Vancouver

Someone needs to educate you on the meaning of debate. It involves actually supporting your statements.

What's with the negativity, Hoot? I provided a video just for you. This should help you deal with your issues with the possibility of the return of the NHL to Manitoba:

And your little video proves what exactly? Nothing.
Stop taking so many drugs and your delusions of the Jets coming back to Manitoba will go away.

Three problems with this:
1. Prove it.
2. "Booming" economy does not automatically mean the Winnipeg economy can sustain an NHL team.
3. Airdrie has a booming economy too. Give them an NHL team first. God, invalid comparisons are just so easy to make, aren't they?

You didn't even bother watching that video, did you Hoot?
having said that, an NHL team in Winnipeg, IMO, is inevitable. Winnipeg and Quebec will likely end up with NHL teams within 5 years. It's too bad so many people from the forum are so pessimistic about the Jets return.
Keep on making posts on how the return of NHL hockey to Winnipeg will never happen. It will just give me that much more pleasue to watch you eat crow when it becomes reality.
