King of the Ring? Where have you been... They got rid of KOTR years ago.

According to http://www.hockeyzoneplus.com/ which is a truely recognized website as being a pioneer of correct information , here are the capacities of New York and Los Angeles... Holders of WM 20, 21.

WM 20 - New York - MSG - 18,200
WM 21 - Los Angeles - Staples Centre - 20,000

The Saddledome... 20,035

Yup, it's been in MSG and soon to be in the Staples Centre, but the Dome would be too small with it's extra 35 seats. You're right.

I can't find attendances, but if the WWE is considering Calgary, and remember folks... they're only considering at this point... they could even consider Max Bell if they wanted to... doesn't mean they are gonna book WM there... The Saddledome is more than a viable situation.

I do agree tho that it's stilla weather risk to hold it at McMahon, but Vince may try to find a way with his power trip ego, and the name on the building.

Wrestlemania at the Pengrowth Saddledome would sell out. So would Wrestlemania at McMahon Stadium.

You have to take into account that fans worldwide would be buying tickets to Wrestlemania. It would be a tremendous boost for the local economy, as there are events the week leading up to Wrestlemania.

You can compare it to the Super Bowl. I don't think a lot of the people in the stands this coming sunday are going to be Jacksonville residents. When I attended WM X8 in Toronto three years ago, there were people around me from across the USA, and even a couple of Australians.

Phew.. OZ I hope you're right about the declining support and soon to end. I hate wrestling so much, I was wondering why it still has a slot on channel 30 I get annoyed when I look for sports news/highlights and it's a full wrestling show...

The reason that the WWE is on the Score is because they actually own a piece of the network...they got that when wrestling was at one of it's high points and the Score wanted content.

I heard rumours about this years ago (before SmackDown went to the Score), I didn't know it was true.

Explain further please, I would like to know more about this

In Nov of 2000, when the Score was really struggling, WWE bought 222,223 shares, with warrents to buy a few million more. As the price of the stock never got up to the $4.50 the warrents were worth, they never bought the stock.
As "Headline Media Group" has evolved, the percentage of the company WWE has owned has drastically dropped, to the point where at the last filing a few weeks ago that # of shares would only be about .25% of the company's total shares. However back in 2000 they owned a fair piece (5% rings a bell) of the channel.

FACT: The WWE considers it a disappointment when a WrestleMania draws less than $1,000,000 US. Given the current exchange rate, that means that a Saddledome crowd would have to draw about $1.2 million Canadian, divided up amongst probably somewhere in the vicinity of 18,500 seats (TOPS).

That's an average ticket price of about $65. Feasable, but unlikely.

The Saddledome holds a maximum of 19 244 for hockey games. There is also a lot of floor space that more seats could be added to if Wrestlemania was to be held there. I'd say 22 000 would be a very realistic estimate.

I went to Mania in Seattle at Safeco and had a blast and I hope its in Calgary, I would defnitely make the road trip to CGY for sure. But I dont think the WWE would ever have t outdoors in March in Calgary. It would have to be the Dome, and I could totally see it happening. Remember, not all Manias have been in a huge place. MSG has had it 3 times, Fleet Center, The Pond in Anaheim, Staples Center this year,

Actually there would be less than 2000 floor seats available, and most of those would just make up for the sections that they would lose for the entrance area etc (probably at least 4 sections in the end of the Dome where the club isn't and the seats go right up to the concourse, based on other events, so at best you break even.

Bad news
Wjy would Montreal be a better choice? Other than the extra 2000 seats. The potential story lines in Calgary would make it more attractive in most people's eyes.

Edit..my bad, I forgot about that dump the Big O.

Well, put it this way...if the WWE was considering it, they knew very well about McMahon and weather in Canada in early Spring....so it was either a totally made up rumor, or its still on.

Remember, only 6 times in 20 WM events has attendance been more then the Saddledome can hold.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Having Wrestlemania at McMahon Stadium at the end of March? It will be like what, 3-4 degrees on a Sunday evening?

We've studied this idea in my marketing classes - the industry is on a huge down-swing, and the WWE would be demanding huge profit margins for it to be pheasible, and trust me, it is NOT cheap to set up events at McMahon Stadium unless you're playing football or soccer.

Sorry boys, but it's not going to happen. Just doesn't make any sense.

And besides, if the Hitman shows up, do you really expect him to do anything but sit in the front row? There's still much angst brewing from the '97 Screw Job.
There could be a blizzard & -13 or clear & +13. having it at McMahon is an insane idea. Hold it at the Saddledome.
